Chapter 35
Adel's face was a mess of tears and grime, her throat raw from hours of unrelenting screaming.
As Euphoria held her, the woman suddenly stopped thrashing. She went still, her head shaking slowly as she looked up with eyes that seemed to beg for something. Euphoria froze; for a split second, those eyes didn't look like those of a madwoman—they looked hauntingly lucid.
The nearby orcs were snapped out of their daze by a warning rumble from Wayne. One of them spoke up, "Adel just bolted for no reason. Tay isn't around to stop her; he's out on a hunt."
Euphoria glanced at Wayne. "Let's get her home. It's too dangerous for her to be wandering like this."
At the mention of going back, Adel's eyes filled with terror, and she began to struggle with renewed, violent desperation. Euphoria's brow furrowed. Did she understand me?
"Alright," Wayne agreed, helping Euphoria restrain the woman.
