They planned to search the next day, but at the middle of the night, Max kept having nightmares of the crystal so he couldn't sleep. He woke Daniel up and they started the search at night. It got darker when they got deeper but their bioluminescent tails provided light throughout the journey. Max's visions got scarier the deeper they went making it clear that they were close. Not too far away was an underwater cave with something glowing inside but Daniel was reluctant to go in. Max went in either way, fully knowing the consequences while Daniel followed him because he didn't want his brother alone in a strange cave. A strong current grabbed Max further into the cave but Daniel held onto his tail. They came across a darker chamber but the current was too strong to swim out. The crystal was clear and it was even stronger, pulling Max's watch closer. The event was exactly as what he experienced in his dream. The power of the crystal became stronger. Even with Max's speed, they still couldn't get out. His legs kept flitching in and out, like he was going to transform back any time soon. Suddenly the crystal exploded, ripping the watch from Max's hand leaving him in human form. Daniel survived the blast but what he saw was a pale ghost form of Max carrying Max's body up to the surface. He swam up to the surface and when he got there, the ghost disappeared leaving Max filled with water. He quickly de-transformed and started a Heimlich maneuver. He kept pumping the water out of his lungs and luckily Max came back to life, but realized that he didn't have a watch with him. Daniel tried telling but Max still couldn't get over the fact that he may never become a merman but Daniel thought otherwise. He told Max that if he could touch that spirit form of himself before time runs out, he could regain his merman form because it might still be his watch.
Max had some hope and got to searching. He rented another diving suit and Daniel went to the kingdom and bargained a potion of water breathing from the cleric. They got back to the cave but Daniel started feeling weak. It seemed liked the explosion had some kind of effect on him. Max had to hurry in finding that spirit. He witness a fast current pass by him and tried to touch but even himself couldn't get to his own speed. Daniel got to weak and passed out, he was falling fast but Max couldn't do anything in his condition so he swam as fast as he could to touch the spirit. Time passed and the longer he tried to touch it, the more pressure will be on Daniel. Max gave up and just accepted faith but he didn't try patience. He stayed and waited in one spot for a few minutes, soon the spirit came closer to him and when he had the chance, he quickly touched it and to his surprise his watch was back at his wrist. He transformed to his mermaidian form with his tail being better than before. He felt an urge to swim with speed but as soon as he swam forward he teleported. He now had the power of teleportation and with that he was ready to save his brother. He quickly swam deeper into the sea but time was running out so when he used his speed, he so fast, up to a speed of Mach 2. When he was about to get his brother, a threat appeared. It seemed to be a shark but it was as big as a Megalodon, knowing they were extinct Max thought of something else. It spotted Daniel and was going in for the bite but Max teleported to his location and quickly went invisible.
Regaining consciousness, he saw the huge creature and right as he was about to get eaten he teleported to a random location, not too far from his brother. He got an upgrade and the ability to teleport too. Daniel got into action as, they spawned in their spirit animals and made them collide with each other. It was four against one but the creature was sort of invincible, none of their approaches seem to have an effect on it so they teleported to the surface but the animals didn't de-spawn, so as they de-transformed, Max's shark grew legs, mutating into a cheetah like creature while Daniel's eel transformed into a ride able firefly with the ability to shoot fireballs out of its belly. It seemed like their animals adapted to the environment around them making them amphibious. They wondered what the animals will look like when collided so Max touched Daniel's firefly while Daniel touched his cat. It was an extraordinary creature. The two animals, including their aquatic forms, came together into one crossbred creature with amazing abilities. Their spirit animals could now last for over Thirty minutes now but the wrist watches warned them that if they were not focused during the collision, the explosion that could happen would have blown up an entire town so they were lucky.
