It's been a few days now and Daniel hasn't still come up with a way to tell Max about the death of their mother. He had guilt on his mind, thinking that if he wasn't there, she would have been okay. There was havoc in New York City. People were shouting and the news was just going on and out about the chaos happening. The mayor of the town, with his podium out, announced that strange creatures emerged from the ocean, looking for ways to cause trouble as they say.
It was clear that the Mermaidians found out that Max and Daniel were imposters in the Mermaidian kingdom. Not only was the Mayor there but also the King of Mermaidian Kingdom. Max went outdoors to settle the chaos happening in the town. The Mayor spotted him but wasn't expecting Max to head towards the Aquatic side. The king forbade him and threatened him saying "If he came closer, he will have no choice but to eliminate him". Suddenly, an earthquake formed under the city making everyone panic. The Mermaidians swam back to their territory avoiding the situation happening in New York. This earthquake went on for a few hours, destroying buildings and houses. It seem to have started form a particular spot in the middle of the city. Max and Daniel went to investigate the crack, even the NYPD helped by clearing the area of civilians.
They weren't equipped with the gadgets to investigate this issue. Luckily, a smart Italian scientist, "Andrew Milson" provided them with a Ground Penetrating Radar which will help in creating a clear image of what is causing the earthquake because the earthquake was clearly not a natural disaster. What they saw was unbelievable and weird at the same time. It seem to be a huge egg wanting to crack but can't due to the lack of space underground thereby causing the earthquakes.
The egg doesn't match any egg species in their lab database. It was as big as a baby whale as shown by the gelatinous substance around the egg. Excavators came in and dug up the surrounding while Andrew went in and analyzed with a taxonomy key. They found out that the egg was a crossbred species of a Lophius Piscatorius (Anglerfish) and a Physeter Macrocephalus (Sperm whale). If the egg happen to hatch, it wouldn't survive because it is not in the ocean. They couldn't move the egg back to the ocean but if they leave it there, it will die and ferment there in the city. Andrew had an idea. He had been working on a device that can shrink down molecules of a living thing through Catabolism. He called the device the Molecule Breaker and he explained the device through the Neutrino Dissimilation theory. It took him a week to set the device but by then the egg must have fully hatch. Andrew tested the device on a chicken but it only worked for a few minutes, the chicken grew back to its normal state but it was enough time to destroy the creature because once it is shrunk, they can smash it to the ground.
