Later that afternoon, Kevin arrived at Carter Corporation with Andy, his assistant, to follow up on the South Front project.
The meeting was scheduled on the executive floor, where Julian oversaw the project.
As Kevin and Andy stepped out of the elevator, they heard two employees talking near the corridor ahead.
"Honestly, I don't understand why they gave her that position."
"She made a basic mistake on her first proposal. If she can't handle something that simple, how is she supposed to work at the executive level?"
Kevin's steps slowed.
Andy noticed immediately.
Neither employee had seen them yet.
"Maybe Director Carter was too quick to trust her," the first voice continued. "Being his specially appointed assistant doesn't automatically make her qualified."
"I heard she got in with connections not skills."
Kevin's expression hardened, he had no interest in office gossip but this was different.
