lLoretta returned to her office and continued her task for the day. When she was done, she quietly began her investigation.
She opened the draft of the proposal on her laptop, remembering that she had saved the version she had worked on before sending the final document for approval.
If the correct figure was still in the draft, she would have something to work with. At the very least, she could show that the mistake had occurred after the document left her hands and then ask the appropriate questions.
She opened the file.
Her eyes immediately went to the figure in question.
The number was wrong, the same as it was in the proposal.
Loretta leaned closer to the screen as though looking at it from another angle might somehow change what she was seeing.
It didn't. She checked the previous page.
Then the calculations.
Then the figures she had used as references. Everything matched the final document, including the mistake.
Loretta slowly leaned back in her chair.
