Loretta immediately shook her head.
"No, that's not necessary."
Kevin's expression remained calm, but his eyes narrowed slightly. "Why?"
"I don't want you to arrange anything for me." She lowered her gaze to her plate. "Julian already offered me a position, and I think I'd rather take it."
Kevin was silent for a moment.
His first reaction was irritation. He had offered her a solution, and she had rejected it without hesitation. Yet, beneath the irritation, something else settled in his mind.
Relief.
He could guess why his dear cousin was seeking out his wife. Kevin had known Lucas long enough to understand how he operated. If Lucas had approached Loretta, there was little doubt in Kevin's mind about what he had wanted.
Information.
If Loretta had accepted Lucas's offer, there was a possibility that she would be eager to get closer to him, but instead, she was choosing Julian.
This changed his previous conclusion. He studied her quietly.
"You've already made up your mind?"
