Kevin's gaze lingered on Lucas's name before he slipped the card into his pocket. He turned toward the bathroom and freshened up before getting dressed for work.
By the time he came downstairs, his expression had returned to its usual calmness.
Lydia was already in the dining area when he stopped beside her.
"Take breakfast to Loretta."
Lydia looked up, slightly surprised. "Yes, sir."
Kevin gave a brief nod and walked toward the door.
Lydia watched him leave, a small smile appearing on her lips. She had been in the Goodman household long enough to notice the little changes.
Since the two got married, they had lived more like housemates than a couple. Yet now, he was asking her to take breakfast to Loretta.
Lydia turned toward the kitchen and prepared a tray. A few minutes later, she carried it upstairs and knocked on Loretta's door.
When there was no response, she gently opened the door.
