Meanwhile, back at the estate, Loretta suddenly remembered the business card Lucas had given her.
Her heart skipped a beat. She glanced toward the table beside her bed, but the card was nowhere in sight.
Then she remembered the previous night.
She had been in Kevin's room. She vaguely remembered holding the card when she went upstairs.
"Could I have dropped it there?"
Loretta slowly got out of bed.
The swelling around her ankle had reduced considerably after resting for a while, although it was still painful when she put too much weight on it.
She carefully made her way toward Kevin's room. Her heart beat a little faster as she pushed the door open.
She searched the bedside table first, then looked around the floor and checked the area near the chair.
Nothing.
Loretta's expression tightened.
She searched again, this time more carefully.
Still nothing.
Her heart sank.
