Chapter 3 - Become A Demon Lord (3)

If he suddenly bewitched people to become cultists and declare himself the great demon lord, he might not only end up in a mental hospital but also be jailed, or worse, killed!

The cats' suggestion to take over this world was too simple, something Jaeyi would never take seriously. He did not even have the power to speak of.

How could he go against the government? Not even that, just the local police!

Jaeyi could just slave himself at his job and try to save as much as he could until retirement.

As expected, nothing would go his way.

"What's wrong with my plan, huh, heir?"

Jaeyi rubbed his temples. Seriously, what had gotten to him that he decided to stop by at that trash instead of continuing walking? And now, he was in this mess!

"Heir, enlighten me!"

"Okay." Jaeyi looked at it and explained everything wrong about its plan. "I don't have powers but only... bewitching people. How can I win against the modern weapons?"

Somehow it sounded weird. Jaeyi did not even know how to truly bewitch people or if he truly had that ability, as this cat said.

The cat fell silent for once. It seemed to also understand the implications of its suggestion.

"You are right. You're as weak and useless as those human beings without my great master's powers."

Jaeyi could not even be mad. It was the truth, after all.

"Just let it go." Jaeyi planned to sleep in. Oh, he remembered something. He did not eat dinner. He could order a takeout for now; he had no strength to cook.

As his mind wandered, he was not thinking about powers anymore. What the cat said made him pause again.

"What did you say?"

The cat suddenly groomed itself.

"Hey! Repeat what you said. What do you mean... enemies are coming?" Jaeyi calmed himself. He could not panic at the mention of enemies... well, he was panicking!

"Who do you think killed the previous master?" The cat stopped grooming, its eyes suddenly constricted. "The great master had enemies everywhere. Now, they are searching for you, the Demon Lord heir."

Of course, the enemies were actually searching for it, who had the Demon Lord's inheritance. But since it had now successfully passed it to the heir, the enemies were technically searching for Jaeyi.

It did not lie, just did not say the whole truth.

"What the fuck..." Jaeyi hugged his head, frustrated. He rarely cursed, but this was truly one of those occasions that if he were not cursing, then he would already be abnormal.

How did he end up in this mess...?

Jaeyi glared at the cat.

"Why are you looking at me like that, heir?" Its tone was as irritating as ever.

"It's your fault! Why me? I'm just an ordinary office worker!" Jaeyi was just a typical exhausted office slave! Why did he suddenly become some demon lord heir, and now have enemies coming for him?

This fucking crazy!

The cat did not look guilty; if anything, it was also thinking the same thing. Why did it have to choose a human idiot for an heir?

"I had no choice," the cat shrugged, not guilty in the slightest.

It was dying and needed to complete the contract for the new demon lord! It just so happened that Jaeyi was there.

"You..." Jaeyi gripped his hair and screamed internally.

He was in this mess because this damnable cat had no choice?

Truly... What shit luck.

Jaeyi wanted to slam his head to the ground. Maybe it was time to end it after all? Instead of waiting for his death?

"I get that you're afraid, heir."

Jaeyi glared at it. He was not just afraid; he was terrified!

The cat leisurely groomed itself. Jaeyi's eyes twitched; his hands itched. He had this sudden urge to slap the sense out of this cat; it did not matter if he got jailed for animal cruelty.

The cat paused and glanced at Jaeyi.

"I can feel your malicious intentions, heir."

Whatever. Jaeyi sighed. Since he was already in this mess, he could only do his thing to survive.

"About your suggestion to replenish the so-called abyssal power..."

The cat looked smug. "Are you finally going to bewitch believers and build a powerful cult?"

Heh. So in the end, its brilliant idea that won.

Jaeyi grimaced. "Not that." He was not yet desperate enough. After all, who knew if this cat was telling the truth?

He was convinced about extraordinary beings at play as the evidence was in front of him, but who knew if there were indeed powerful beings coming for him?

Still, he had to be prepared for that.

"Tell me about that bewitching ability." Jaeyi wanted to know its implications to know if he could utilize it in some way so that he did not need to gather a cult... maybe.

For once, the cat cooperated with him silently.

"You're saying my words had a certain bewitching ability?" Jaeyi frowned at it. How could he use that?

This was vague in some way. Was it passive or active? If it were passive, he might become careful about what he needed to say in public.

"You don't need to be too concerned, heir. The abyssal power in you is too meager. I am even ashamed to call you a Demon Lord at this moment. In your condition, you can only influence human minds slowly."

Jaeyi's temple throbbed, and he could not help but glare at it again. And this cat even suggested bewitching humans to take over this world when his power was barely existent?

"How to know if the power had been activated?"

There was no need to argue about it, and Jaeyi continued to ask questions.

The cat shrugged. How would it know? It was not the Demon Lord. Still, it said something to continue being the superior one.

"You'll know when it's activated, heir."

Again, vague. He had the feeling this cat was truly scamming him. Jaeyi had no way to know. He massaged his neck and stood up. Although he was not hungry, he felt like he still needed to eat.

"Heir, what are you going to do?" The cat followed him to the kitchen. Jaeyi did not answer and looked for something to eat. He quickly saw some leftovers, deciding to eat them instead.

The cat jumped onto the table and looked at him.

"Human foods are disgusting."

Yeah, yeah, I don't care. Jaeyi's taste buds seemed to have gotten worse; he looked at the food. Maybe it was spoiled? He smelled it... seemed fine. Whatever.

"What are your plans, heir? I'm telling you, the enemies are coming!" The cat appeared solemn this time. At this, it did not lie. There were truly enemies coming for it, or them.

Jaeyi put down his spoon. He was also thinking about that. His gaze fell on the television, which he barely used.

"Do you think bewitching through such screens works?" Jaeyi pointed out. The cat looked at the television; it became lost in thought and soon understood after looking through Jaeyi's memories.

"Are you talking about the entertainment industry, heir?"

Jaeyi nodded. He just thought that if he could bewitch and create a cult slowly, building a fanbase was such a good idea to infiltrate.

No one would know.

"You want to be a so-called actor?" The cat narrowed its eyes and looked at Jaeyi's face, as if judging him. Jaeyi gripped his spoon.

Okay. Jaeyi was well aware. He was not cut out to be an actor. Never mind the acting skills; he was not even confident about his appearance.

The 27-year-old Jaeyi's appearance was not bad; he was even above average, but after years of working and accumulated stress, his whole vibe had changed.

Just the dark circles in his eyes and his whole gloomy demeanor were not something that was meant for the glorious spotlight.

Being a singer was not good either. Although he often sang in karaoke when there was a drinking party, Jaeyi did not think he was good at it. He knew how to sing but had no talent.

In general, Jaeyi could not see himself standing in front of the camera at all. However, what else could he do about this seemingly useless ability, which was the only resort to replenish his abilities?

After his brunch, Jaeyi took his phone and browsed. What else was a good way to talk through screens and entice cult... ahem, fans.

Vlogging... Jaeyi crossed that out, too. He preferred it if he was not seen at all. This could be just a side job for this demon lord thing, and he intended for his normal life to continue.

So, if this cat was just scamming him, Jaeyi's normal life was not fucked over.

While he was scrolling through the phone, the cat was also observing him. It could not interrupt his thoughts and had no intention either. The heir, while previously human and such a weak being, was still its master.

It just sat beside Jaeyi.

As Jaeyi scrolled, his fingers paused, and he stared at the video clip recommended on the Metube homepage.

'A Guide To Become A Perfect Vtuber'

Vtuber? Jaeyi seemed to have heard of that before. It was also about livestreaming to the audience. And the catch...

Jaeyi's eyes lit up.

"This is it! This is what I'm looking for!"

A chance to talk through a live audience while not using his own face! He decided being a VTuber was the best for him!
