Chapter 2 - Become A Demon Lord (2)

Jaeyi opened his mouth, then closed it again. What to do? He was speechless, unable to think straight. His mind kept on repeating... Was he dreaming?

The cat rolled its eyes and jumped to slap Jaeyi's face before it landed once more in its previous position.

"You're not dreaming, heir."

Jaeyi's head was turned to the side by the slap; his eyes blinked.

A cat slapped him. Slowly, he faced it again. Jaeyi slowly asked.

"How did you know I was thinking that?" He was slowly calming down. Jaeyi touched his cheek and massaged it. The cat did not use much force, but it still woke him up.

"It's all over your face."

Jaeyi stared intently at the cat. Was he really not dreaming? He rubbed his cheek, which was still tingling from pain. But there was a talking cat, and everything that happened last night...

His eyes widened. Jaeyi stood up, realizing something.

"My work! I'm late!" Damn! His superior was about to grill him again. Jaeyi hated to see that face, but he could not resign either.

"I called them already. You don't have to worry, heir."

Jaeyi, who was scrambling for clothes, paused and turned to the cat.

"Huh? You called who?"

The cat narrowed its eyes again, about to lose its temper again, and its claw extended. Jaeyi stepped back and scratched his cheek. He could still not believe there was such a cat straight from fantasy in his house.

"How did you call them?" Jaeyi sat in his bed again. For now, he decided to talk to it.

"Using that device you called a phone, of course."

"No, I mean..." Jaeyio sighed. "What did you say to them? No, how did you convince them?"

The cat retracted its claws, head high.

"I only did a little trick with my power. Humans are such weak creatures," the cat answered nonchalantly.

Jaeyi's left eyelid twitched. He was not yet used to its proud tone. However, even if he did not believe, what else could he do but play along?

There was no way he could go to work in this situation. He was still clueless as to what the cat said earlier that Jaeyi was deliberately ignoring.

He was reminded of something. If he could recall, he fainted on the ground outside, but he woke up in his place?

"Are you curious how you woke up in this tiny room?"

Jaeyi's lips twitched. It was not big but definitely not tiny. Of course, he would not argue with it. He could only nod.

The cat let out a shrug. "I read some of your memories from your blood and teleported us here."

"You teleported us here?"

The cat nodded casually again as though it were a simple thing. Jaeyi stared incredulously at it. Could it be... he was indeed an heir to the so-called Demon Lord, and now he was a powerful being?

Jaeyi's eyes could not help but light up at the thought. He was not one to dream of powerful abilities or anything, but no one would surely reject this opportunity.

As for revenge or anything, Jaeyi had completely thrown that at the back of his mind. He had no interest in it. His mind focused on the powers and what to do with them to finally quit his job.

"I have the feeling that you are thinking of some dumb ideas again, heir." The cat sighed as though regretting what it had done, but it had no choice but to continue until the end. "Yes, you don't expect me to carry you?"

Jaeyi did not even mind the tone. He smiled slightly, looking like an idiot from a comedic horror movie.

"Tell me, what kind of abilities do I have? Can I also teleport?" Jaeyi was already getting excited, imagining himself teleporting everywhere in the world.

Should he visit Hawaii first? He had been thinking of taking a vacation there, but his savings and schedule never matched.

All his exhaustion was stripped away from him; if not for his dark under-eye, he would truly look excited. Instead, he looked a bit deranged, smiling like that.

The cat's eyes visibly twitched, looking at Jaeyi, and averted its eyes as though staring for a few more seconds might make it throw up.

"Hey, black cat," Jaeyi called again.

The black cat's eyes flashed.

"Don't disrespect this one so much, heir! I'm not a mere black cat. I'm the trusted and only companion of the Great Demon Lord, Virel!" It fumed.

Jaeyi could not care less about its name.

"Yeah, I'm sorry about that." He ignored it and asked again. "What are my abilities? Can I try it now?" Jaeyi observed himself. It had been a while since he read a webnovel, but if he remembered it right, he should have a kind of power inside him. That was how protagonists sensed it.

Jaeyi frowned slightly. He could not feel anything at all. He looked up at the cat again.

"The Great Demon Lord's powers can't just be described by a few sentences, heir. You should have..." It paused and stared at Jaeyi intently, as though it realized something.

Jaeyi tilted his head and waited. "I should have... what?"

"How come..." The cat's ears twitched slightly. "Right. This world's so low level, and the abyssal powers can't be replenished. The abyss is too far away. Hah, how did I get transported to this place?" The cat's despondent voice rang, dampening Jaeyi's anticipation.

"Is there a problem?" His smile faded from his lips, returning to his usual gloomy vibe.

The cat returned from its proud posture. Jaeyi might have believed it if not for its earlier rambling.

"There is a problem," Jaeyi answered his question without waiting for its response.

He sighed. Of course, having powers… that sounded too good to be true. Jaeyi's shoulder drooped. It meant he had to hang on and work tomorrow. His dream of vacation might only be realized in the next life, if there were one.

"Don't be so disappointed, heir. There is indeed a problem. But it can be easily fixed." The cat sounded casual again. "The remaining abyssal power has been exhausted because of the distance and the contract! However, we can just replenish it again."

"Oh? How can we replenish it?" Jaeyi was not enthusiastic; he propped his chin on both his hands and looked at it. His earlier bewilderment and shock at seeing a talking, fat, black cat with a horn had faded.

Sometimes, one could encounter such bizarre events; his was only a little more exaggerated than others.

The cat glared, not liking the tone. Its tail wagged slowly, displeased. However, as there was indeed a problem, it did not argue with the heir.

It bared its teeth and spoke proudly.

"You have to use the Great Demon Lord's power to entice believers! From what I've noticed, the humans in this domain have very weak mental fortitude." Its voice a little louder with a hint of pride.

Jaeyi suddenly had a bad premonition about this. And sure enough.

"Heir, start bewitching a few humans and create a powerful cult dedicated to the Great Demon Lord! Spread your powers and take over this world!" The cat looked so proud and happy with this idea.

Its front paws even crossed to its chest.

"What do you think, heir? You can definitely accomplish it in no time."

There was very little abyssal power left, but just enticing a few humans was enough. The cat nodded at its brilliant idea. As expected of the great companion of the Great Demon Lord, Virel!

Surprisingly, the heir only stared at the number one idiot in the world. Like the stare it used on Jaeyi.

The cat, Virel, narrowed its eyes. "Is there something wrong with my brilliant idea, heir?"

Jaeyi shook his head.

"Then?"

"Everything is wrong with your plan!"
