Chapter 1 - Ravenwood

The rain in Ravenwood didn't fall; it crawled. On the night Father Alex arrived, it crept up the church steps like fingers searching for a pulse.

The townsfolk barely noticed. They were used to the rain's weird ways, like they were used to the way their secrets seemed to whisper themselves to God. But Father Alex noticed. He stood at the rectory window, eyes fixed on the droplets inching up the stone like broken prayers.

He'd come to Ravenwood for a purpose. A reckoning. And now, with the entity's voice a constant hum in his skull, he knew he'd found more.

The bell above the altar began to toll on its own. One… two… three…

A soft knock at the door. A widow's voice, trembling: "Father? I need to confess something.

Father Alex smiled — a broken thing — as he opened the door. The widow, Mrs. Lane, clheld her rosary like a talisman. "Forgive me, Father, I've been having… thoughts. About my husband."

The entity inside Alex stirred, sensing the rot beneath her words. "Tell me, child," Alex whispered, his voice not entirely his own.

As Mrs. Lane spoke of the insurance policy, the unpaid debts, the weight of a life unloved, the words spilled like poison. Alex's eyes darkened. "You aren't the only one with secrets, Miriam."

The bell above tolled louder. Outside, the rain stopped crawling.

Silence.

Then… footsteps. Upstairs. In the confessional.

Mrs. Lane's eyes widened as Alex's hands began to twist into claws. "Father, what's happening?"

The entity's voice boomed from Alex's lips: _"You've confessed. Now atone."_

The room darkened. Upstairs, a door creaked — the confessional lid slammed open. A figure tumbled out: Emily, the missing girl's best friend. Screams trapped in her throat.

Alex dragged Mrs. Lane to the altar, where shadows writhed like living things. "Your sin wasn't just thoughts, Miriam. It was _action_."

The entity whispered a name in Alex's ear. The widow's eyes went wide. "No… not that!"

The bell above cracked, clinging to its last toll…

Suddenly, a car pulled up outside. Headlights swept the stained glass, casting red like blood on the walls.

A journalist stepped out. "I'm looking for Father Alex."

The journalist, Lena, stormed into the church, camera slinging off her shoulder. "Father Alex? I'm here about the disappearances."

Alex turned. Shadows sliced across his face. "Welcome, Lena. You're… familiar."

Lena's gut tightened. She'd grown up in Ravenwood — knew Alex wasn't the priest he claimed. "I'm here to expose you," she said, aiming her camera.

The entity laughed through Alex. _"You'll expose nothing. You'll remember."_

Lena's vision blurred. Flashes of her own dark past flickered — the night her brother vanished. The guilt she'd buried.

Alex raised a hand. The shadows swallowed Lena whole.

The bell above groaned, its last toll echoing…

The church doors swung open. A teen, new to Ravenwood, stumbled in. "H-help… I saw something…"

Alex smiled. Another sinner arrived.

The teen, Jake, backed away from Alex's smile. "I saw… people… _moving_ in the woods. Like they were… sleepwalking?"

Alex's eyes flickered — the entity feeding on the fear. "Come confess, child. Unburden your soul."

Jake hesitated, then stepped toward the confessional. As he knelt, Lena stumbled out of the shadows, camera still clung to her chest. "Jake, no! It's a trap!"

But Jake whispered his "sins" — about the texts he'd sent, the party he'd pressured a girl to attend… the woods where she was last seen.

The entity growled louder in Alex. _"Add it to the ledger."_

The church lights flickered. Outside, wind howled like a chorus of the damned.

Suddenly, Jake's words cut off. Silence.

Lena rushed the confessional. Empty. A chalk scratched message on the wall: _"LOOK IN THE WELLS"_.

Alex's voice whispered behind her: "Too late, Lena. The reckoning's here."

Lena's skin crawled as she spun to face Alex. "What've you done with Jake?"

Alex's grin split wider. "He's atoning. Like the others."

She charged at him, but he vanished. The church plunged into darkness. Footsteps echoed… from everywhere.

Lena stumbled outside, gravel crunching underfoot. The wells. She knew what they meant. Old, abandoned wells scattered around Ravenwood — and secrets.

She reached the first well, rope tied crudely over the opening. A scream clawed up her throat. _Jake's phone, dangling down the shaft._

A voice behind: "He's… praying." Alex.

Lena spun, rage overtaking fear. "You're not human."

The entity through Alex laughed. _"Neither are you, Lena. You left Ravenwood. But Ravenwood never left you."_

Flashback: Lena's brother's voice, trapped. _"I didn't mean to…"_

The truth hit — she'd covered it up. Fled.

Alex raised a hand. The well's lid slid off. Shadows poured out like tar…

Lena's phone buzzed. A message on screen: _"I SEE YOU"_
