Chapter 52 - Chapter 52: TOWARDS THE SOVEREIGN PATH

The battlefield slowly fell into a strange silence, not the calm kind but the heavy, suffocating silence that comes after something powerful has been erased from existence.

The corpse of the warlord was no longer standing, its massive body collapsing into dark fragments that dissolved into the air, leaving behind only traces of demonic energy that still lingered like a fading storm.

The ground was cracked from the impact of their final attack, frost spreading in shattered patterns while scorched marks from demonic energy burned into the earth, showing just how intense the fight had been.

Lee Hyun stood there, his body slightly leaning forward, his breathing uneven but controlled, blood dripping slowly from his arm and the corner of his lips, yet his eyes remained sharp, filled with a quiet intensity that had only grown deeper after the battle.

Min Seoah was a few steps away, her body trembling slightly from exhaustion as she steadied herself, her frost aura fading slowly as the strain on her body became visible, but even then she forced herself to stand, her gaze fixed on him as she felt something changing.

A faint vibration spread through his body, not from outside but from within, as if something had finally reached its limit and was now breaking through. His mind turned silent for a moment, the surrounding world fading as the system reacted, its presence becoming clearer than ever before, and without needing to speak, he understood that this was it, the moment his first job change would complete.

A surge of energy erupted from the warlord's fallen core, not visible to the naked eye but drawn directly into him, flowing through his veins like a burning river, raw and violent, refusing to be controlled easily.

"Stay back."

His voice came out low but firm, not asking but telling, and Min Seoah immediately stopped where she was, her instincts telling her that interfering now would only make things worse. She watched him closely, her eyes filled with concern but also trust, because she knew this was something only he could go through alone.

The energy inside him began to spiral violently, clashing against his own power, his demonic and divine energies reacting at the same time as if trying to dominate one another, his bloodline awakening further as the pressure increased. His knees bent slightly under the force, his fingers tightening as veins appeared across his arms, glowing faintly with a mix of crimson and golden light, his breathing turning heavier as pain spread through his entire body. It wasn't the kind of pain that could be ignored, it was deep, tearing, as if every part of him was being broken down and rebuilt again at the same time.

He gritted his teeth, refusing to let even a sound escape, his will holding everything together as he forced the energy to stabilize. His mind remained clear, sharper than ever before, guiding the flow, compressing the chaotic force into something usable, something refined.

Slowly, the violent surge began to change, becoming smoother, denser, more controlled, as if it had finally accepted him as its master instead of resisting.

The change didn't stop there. His core trembled once, then cracked, not physically but spiritually, as the limitation that held him in the mortal stage finally shattered. A new flow of energy emerged, cleaner, purer, more efficient, spreading through his body like a calm ocean after a storm.

His eyes opened. There was no explosion. No dramatic outward effect, but the difference was undeniable.

He stood up slowly, his posture straightening, his presence becoming heavier without being oppressive, deeper without being chaotic. The air around him seemed to settle naturally, as if acknowledging the change.

Min Seoah looked at him without blinking, her expression slowly shifting as she felt the difference clearly.

"You…"

She paused for a second, trying to find the right words.

"You're completely different now."

He glanced at his hand, slowly clenching it as he felt the energy flowing through him, smoother, stronger, far more responsive than before, every movement carrying more weight, more control, more precision.

"It worked."

His voice was calm, but there was a faint satisfaction hidden within it. He took a step forward, and even that simple movement felt different, as if his body was no longer wasting energy unnecessarily, every action now refined to its most efficient form. His combat power had not just increased, it had transformed, becoming something far beyond his previous state.

Min Seoah exhaled slowly, relief and admiration mixing within her as she straightened her posture again.

"Then your job change is complete?"

He nodded slightly.

"Yes."

She smiled faintly, though exhaustion still lingered on her face.

"Good… because now it's my turn."

He looked at her, his expression turning serious again as the situation shifted back to reality. They were still inside enemy territory, and this was not a place to relax.

"let's move."

She nodded without hesitation. They didn't stay there any longer, leaving behind the battlefield as they moved away from the demonic palace, their pace steady but cautious.

The energy in the area had already started shifting after the warlord's death, and it wouldn't take long for stronger entities to notice what had happened.

As they moved, the land slowly began to change again, the dark corrupted ground fading as they exited the core demonic zone, replaced by dry, barren land where the temperature began to drop with each step forward. The wind grew colder and sharper. Carrying a biting chill that touched even their enhanced bodies.

Min Seoah walked slightly ahead now, her gaze focused forward as if she could already see the destination waiting for them.

"We're heading to Snow Island."

Her voice was steady, but there was a faint seriousness in it. Lee Hyun walked beside her, his expression calm.

"That's where your job change leads."

She nodded.

"And also the final piece for my physique evolution."

He glanced at her briefly.

"So this isn't optional."

She shook her head.

"No… it's necessary."

A brief silence passed between them as they continued walking, the sound of their footsteps crunching lightly against the cold ground.

She spoke again after a moment.

"That place…"

She paused slightly.

"It's far more dangerous than here."

He didn't react much to that.

"Good."

She looked at him, slightly annoyed.

"You're not even surprised."

He smirked faintly.

"If it wasn't dangerous, it wouldn't be worth it."

She let out a small breath, half annoyed, half amused.

"…Idiot."

But her tone carried warmth. They continued moving, the temperature dropping further as traces of snow began appearing on the ground, the air turning visibly colder as their breaths became faintly visible. The sky itself seemed to change, losing its warmth, becoming pale and distant as the environment shifted into something harsher, more unforgiving.

Min Seoah tightened her coat slightly, her frost energy naturally adapting to the environment, her presence blending more easily with the cold.

"This place suits me."

She said quietly.

Lee Hyun nodded.

"And it will test you."

She looked forward again, her eyes sharpening.

"I know."

The wind howled softly as they moved further, the world around them slowly transforming into a frozen domain where survival itself would become a challenge.

But neither of them slowed down. Because both of them knew, this was not the end. This was only the beginning of their next evolution.
