Chapter 51 - Chapter 51: CLASH AGAINST THE WARLORD

The moment the encirclement tightened, the air itself seemed to grow heavier, filled with raw killing intent and distorted demonic energy that pressed down from every direction.

The monsters did not rush mindlessly this time, instead they advanced with a strange sense of coordination, their movements overlapping, their attacks layered, as if guided by a single will watching from above.

Lee Hyun stepped slightly forward, placing himself between the advancing swarm and Min Seoah, his grip tightening around the Demon's Sword as a faint crimson glow began to seep from the blade.

"Stay sharp, they're not random anymore."

Min Seoah nodded, her expression calm but focused, frost energy already gathering beneath her feet as a thin layer of ice spread outward, silently marking her territory.

"I noticed, they're moving like a unit."

The first wave lunged forward. Claws tore through the air, jaws snapped with bone-crushing force, and shadows leaped from every angle, attempting to overwhelm them through sheer numbers.

Lee Hyun moved first, his body cutting through the battlefield like a blade itself, his sword flashing in arcs of crimson as each strike ended a life instantly. His movements were no longer those of someone adapting; they were refined, controlled, deadly in a way that showed his growth far beyond his level.

At the same time, Min Seoah stepped into her domain of frost, her presence turning the battlefield into a frozen execution ground. Every step she took left behind a trail of ice, every gesture summoned spears, walls, and bursts of freezing energy that halted the monsters mid-charge before shattering them into fragments.

The coordination between them was seamless. Lee Hyun cut down those who broke through her range, while Min Seoah controlled the battlefield, limiting movement and isolating targets. Their attacks overlapped, their timing precise, their rhythm unbroken.

Minutes passed, but in a battlefield like this, minutes felt like hours. Monsters bodies fell and their energy surged. The number of monsters began to drop steadily. At one point, Lee Hyun spun sharply, his blade cleaving through three beasts at once before he stepped back slightly, exhaling.

"…Numbers are dropping."

Min Seoah wiped a faint trace of blood from her cheek, her breathing slightly uneven.

"…Good thing we thinned them earlier."

They did not stop moving. Even as the immediate pressure eased, they knew better than to relax. The deeper they advanced, the more dangerous the enemies became. They began moving again, this time more cautiously, hiding their presence, using the terrain, avoiding unnecessary fights while eliminating only what stood directly in their path. Their pace slowed, but their focus sharpened.

Then, suddenly the ground trembled. A low, deep vibration spread through the area, different from the chaotic movement of lesser monsters. This was heavier, deliberate, carrying authority. Both of them stopped instantly.

Lee Hyun's eyes narrowed.

"…It's here."

From the distance, something approached.

Each step it took made the ground crack slightly beneath its weight. The monsters around them suddenly became restless, then, they moved aside and a path opened.

Min Seoah's voice lowered.

"Looks like their village chief… The war lord."

Lee Hyun didn't reply, but his grip tightened. The figure emerged fully. A massive humanoid demon, standing over three meters tall, its body covered in dark crimson armor-like skin, veins glowing faintly with molten energy. Its eyes burned with intelligence, and in its hand it carried a massive war blade, jagged and heavy, dripping with dark energy that distorted the air around it.

The system reacted instantly.

Min Seoah's expression tightened.

"…Level fifty…"

The gap was undeniable. Even after everything they had gained, even after all their growth, this was still a difference that could not be ignored.

The warlord looked at them with amusement.

"…Humans…"

Its voice was deep, distorted, carrying a faint echo as if multiple voices overlapped within it.

"…You dare walk into my domain…"

Lee Hyun stepped forward.

"…We're not here to walk."

The warlord's lips curled into something resembling a smile.

"…Good. Then die."

And in the next instant, it moved. The speed was overwhelming. The ground shattered beneath its step as it closed the distance instantly, its massive blade swinging down with enough force to split the earth itself.

Lee Hyun reacted at the last possible moment, his body twisting as he parried the attack, but the sheer impact still sent him sliding back, his feet carving deep lines into the ground.

His eyes sharpened instantly.

"…Heavy."

Min Seoah didn't hesitate. Frost surged outward as she created multiple ice barriers between them and the warlord, each one layered, reinforced, but in the next moment, the blade came down again. Shattering them all like glass.

The pressure alone forced both of them to move again, their bodies reacting on instinct as they avoided the follow-up strike. The surrounding monsters began attacking again. But this time, they were background noise.

Lee Hyun stepped forward again, his aura shifting, his demonic energy rising as the Demon's Sword glowed deeper, darker.

"…We don't outpower it."

Min Seoah moved beside him, her frost was intensifying.

"…Then we outplay it."

Their eyes met, and without another word, they moved. Lee Hyun attacked from the front, his strikes rapid, precise, forcing the warlord to respond, while Min Seoah circled from the side, her frost targeting its legs, slowing its movement, restricting its balance.

The warlord roared, swinging its blade in a wide arc that forced both of them back, but this time they adapted faster, avoiding the direct impact and countering immediately.

Minutes turned into a brutal exchange. Each clash shook the ground. Each mistake nearly cost them everything. Lee Hyun took a direct hit at one point, the impact sending him crashing into a tree, blood spilling from his mouth, but he forced himself back up instantly, ignoring the pain.

Min Seoah pushed her limits, her frost domain expanding, freezing parts of the battlefield entirely, but the strain on her body was visible, her breathing became heavier and her movements slower.

The warlord's regeneration activated, it's wounds closed and blood hardened. Its power grew.

"…We can't drag this out."

Lee Hyun muttered.

Min Seoah nodded.

"…One shot."

Their eyes met again. Understanding passed instantly. They separated. Lee Hyun began drawing in energy, his blade trembling slightly as the Demon's Sword reacted, its devouring edge activating, absorbing the surrounding demonic energy, compressing it into something unstable, something violent.

At the same time, Min Seoah gathered everything she had left, her frost condensing into a single point, her domain shrinking, focusing, becoming sharper, deadlier. The warlord sensed it and charged.

"…DIE—!"

It raised its blade, but it was too late. Lee Hyun moved first like a flash. He took a step, a strike that didn't aim to kill. But to open. The blade pierced just enough. Just deep enough.

Min Seoah followed. Her frost surged forward like a collapsing storm, freezing everything in its path, entering through the opening, reaching the core. And then, they both moved, together towards the final attack.

A convergence of crimson demonic force and absolute frost. The explosion that followed shattered the battlefield. The warlord's roar cut off mid-sound. Its body froze, cracked and then collapsed.

Silence followed.

Lee Hyun stood there, his breathing uneven, blood dripping from his arm. Min Seoah dropped to one knee, her body trembling from exhaustion. But the warlord, did not rise again. They had done it. Together...
