Chapter 9 - Welcome Back!

There was blood, dripping down from the wound where Lukas' eyes should've been. It was staining the flooring everywhere that he walked. Ms. Avery felt so bad for him, that tears started to fall.

Lukas' frown grew wider, as he asked: "why're you crying for?" which only made it worse for her. She felt so guilty for him, but she didn't know why. I mean, it wasn't like she was his mom or anything. So why did seeing him like this make her so sad? Drew comes over to her, and pats her on the shoulder. Reassuring her that none of this was her own doing.

Lukas looked over to see how Ethan was holding up, but it wasn't really that good either. He had this blank expression, like he just spoke to Satan himself. Lukas walks up and asks: "hey man? You okay there?"

"Yeah… I'm… fine…" Ethan mutters while moving past Lukas and the rest of them to presumably go back to his room.

Ms. Avery watches Ethan push her out of the way. Which made her worries even worse. "What's going on with Ethan?" She asks. "Don't worry about him for now. Just give him some time to recover" Drew told her. "But for right now. Probably a good idea to treat Lukas' wound so it doesn't get infected…" Lukas looks at him after hearing his name. Drew motions to come over to him, and Lukas obliges.

The two of them walk back to their pseudo-nursing room, to try to find Melissa. Ms. Avery also follows not far behind. Lukas feels that the air around all of them isn't really the best right now.

"Hey, Lukas?" Ms. Avery begins with. "Does your eye… hurt at all?"

Lukas shakes his head. "It's fine," he says while looking straight ahead. Not even giving her a glance.

They all walk in a suffocating silence, watching as they walk through the eerie hallways. Lukas' mind feels like it's gonna explode from the pain. But he doesn't want to look weak in front of her.

"Oh shit! You guys are back already!" Melissa is shocked to see both Drew and Lukas back. Then she looked at Lukas' face, and was horrified.

"My god! What happened to you!"

She puts her hand all over Lukas' face, which makes him really uncomfortable. She then pulls out something, making Lukas immediately decline her generous offer Making her a little sad.

Lukas lies down onto the bed. Sinking into the mattress. He just had a bath, and got brand new clothes. So now he just has to sit there and answer some of Melissa's questions.

"So… what happened to you guys anyway?" She asks with a clipboard in hand. Lukas is still laying flat on his back. The two of them were the only ones left inside the room for now. "I got into an altercation with someone. They were murdering everyone in the store we went into. That's pretty much it" Lukas replies. Watching as a spider began to make itself a brand-new home in the left hand corner. Lukas was too busy focusing on what that spider was doing, to notice Melissa glaring down at him for not answering.

"HEY!!"

He jolts up, with a shooting pain coming from his back afterwards. He yelps, catching Melissa's attention. She frowns.

"Oh! so you do need my medicine!" She begins to pull it back out. Lukas violently shakes his head in protest. Urging her that he's perfectly fine, and really, REALLY does NOT need it at all. She calms herself, and puts the thing on one of the shelves in the room. Positioned in a way so that Lukas can be reminded of it, every time he steps into this room from now on.

"What about Ethan? Haven't seen him yet?" Melissa was writing something down.

"Ethan's I think traumatized by the whole thing. It was really brutal to be honest" Lukas laid back down so he didn't have to look at whatever she put down. "I guess just give him until tomorrow to calm down" Lukas moved only his head up to look at her.

"I guess… goodnight! I'm gonna go to fucking bed it's late" Melissa gets up from her chair, and walks out of the room. Accidentally slamming it while Lukas was still in there.

"*sighs heavily I am SO goddamn tired right now…" Lukas starts drifting off to sleep. His head felt really heavy as it plopped back down onto the mattress. He thought that this bed was actually really comfy for what it is.

The world began to discord itself almost. The ceiling fan started to curve and wobble around as his vision blurred. The sounds around him almost started to muffled, almost like there was someone on each side of him, covering his ears.

And just like that. He was out like a light.

Lukas wakes up in some sort of forest, and it was the middle of the day it seemed. At first, he thought that they all had dumped him in the woods to die. But then he realised that this was probably just a dream.

He gets up to look around the area. And there were a bunch of animals around him. Their eyes were dead-set on Lukas direction, which made him uneasy. He waves at them awkwardly, right before walking in some random direction. From what it looked like, he thought that he was going north based on where the sun was located, but he could've been going south for all he knew.

The deeper he would go, the darker the place got. To the point that Lukas could tell that all the animals' eyes were glowing. His hands started to temple from fear. Even though he knew it was a dream. It just felt so real to not be a little scary.

He was hearing a humming sound, coming from somewhere, much deeper in. It felt just like some sort of cheesy horror film. It didn't make it any less terrifying though.

Once the humming was loud enough, he would start to see a pretty bright glow, coming from its direction. Wanting to get his over and done with. He started to sprint over there. While he was running though, he tripped and fell onto some sticks that were laying on the ground.

He stood back up and wiped away the dirt and mud on his face and shirt. He noticed that the animals were a lot closer than before. Which fully put him into fight or flight mode. And he chose that flight option. He booked it over to the now blinding light, trying his best not to look back. The humming was now hurting his ears immensely. He didn't even care anymore though. He just had to run, and run, and run, and run, and run, and run, and run, and run until he couldn't see or hear anything.

"Hello there, young one…" Lukas. After slowly regaining his hearing and eyesight, realised that he was again, on the ground. Scared for his life, he shot up in one swift motion, and looked around to see if those things were still around. He didn't see any animal around him, which relieved him. But what he did see was really, REALLY surreal for him.

"What's the matter? It looked like you've just seen God?" The thing in front of him said.
