Prologue

From the land of Accendino, people were tormented by demons, death after

deaths kept happening until the councel decided that they had suffered enough

so they consulted a demi-god named piero. He then gave them a realm formed as a prison

hidden in a bracelet. The bracelet was then handed over to the family of Ren

who trained others in the city to become strong and together with the help of

the bracelet most of the demons were safely captured but the demons kept

attacking until all of a sudden they stopped.

 Years later, the bracelet is

passed down to Dante Ren the fifth weilder.and the last holder......…

Dante's pov( Hundred years ago)

From the instant my eyes behold her, I knew as surely as one knows the

rising sun, that she was the one. Thus I approached her with all the courage I

could summon.

"Pardon me, my lady", I said, inclining my head, "might I have the

singular honour of knowing your name?". She startled slightly at my address,

though soon her lips curved into the softest of smiles.

When she spoke, her voice was like a hymn carried upon the evening air,

the most enchanting sound I have ever been graced to hear.

"My name is Gem", She replied with gentle grace. "And yours, sir?".

"Dante,Dante Ren", said I."The pleasure of this meeting is most assuredly mine"

"ah, the Dante Ren", she answered, as though she had already known me

already.

I confess I faltered then, uncertain how she discerned my name. Likely I

am the infernal bracelet-keeper many gossiped about, It is surely a tiresome

habit. Still, I pressed onward, for the moment was too precious to relinquish.

"Well, Miss Gem", I continued,"it is an honour most profound.Might I

persuade you to linger a while in my company? This place has grown

wearisome, and I should count myself most fortunate in your conversation."

She regarded me for a moment, and my heart trembled in its cage. Then

she inclined her head. "Indeed, I should be glad of it. This place was growing rather

dull in any case."

From that day forth, our acquaintance blossomed into affection, and

affection into somethinng greater.

One day, as Azzurro, my assistant and I walked along the narrow garden

path, the afternoon lay hushed about us. The Autumn air was cool, tinged with

the scent of damp earth and the fading roses that clung stubbornly to their

branches.

Gravel crunched beneath our steps, yet for a time neither of us spoke. I

recall thinking how pleasant the silence was, until he broke it.

"There is something unwholesome in the lady Gem," Azzurro said at last,

his voice as low and heavy as the gathering cloud above us."Her eyes burn too

brightly, as though lit from flame not of this world. I tell you, Haru, she is

not what she seems."

I turned to him, steady yet the pang stirred within me."You wrong her,

my friend. Whatever shadows you imagine, I have known in her only kindness and

sincerity. To suspect her without proof is Injustice I cannot abide."

He studies me, his gaze stern yet sorrowful."You are ensnared," he

replied."And I fear you will not see the truth until it is too late."

I forced a faint smile, though it cost me much."perhaps. Yet I would

rather be deceived by trust than live in suspicion of one so dear. If I err,

let it be my burden to bear. Until that day, I cannot condemn her."

"Come," I said gently laying a hand upon his arm."Let us go see her. Do

you not remember what day it is? It is our anniversary, five years since she

came into our lives. Each year I keep it as a solemn rite, a remembrance of all

that has passed since. Surely, if ever there was a day to stand in her

presence, it is this one."

Azzurro's brow darkened, yet he said nothing, and so I pressed on with

quiet fervour."For me, it is no mere visit, but a pilgrimage, a binding memory and

hope together. Whatever you may think of her, she has marked our lives

indelibly. To ignore this day would be to deny the course of fate itself."

With that we left the garden and made our way through the long, shadowed

corridor of the house.

Gem pov

"Remember yourself, Gem," I whispered within, "Fail him not, falter

not."

Before me stood Lord Aldo Morrezzo, sovereign of demons, dread of the

abyss… and the only man my heart dared called beloved. For Five long years I

had endured the torment of separation, forced to linger beside that pitiful

mortal, awaiting the hour decreed.

Now the moment drew nigh, and I trembled with anticipation. Soon the

bracelet would be ours, and with it, freedom- freedom for him, and dominion

over all creation.

"My Lord," I murmured, bowing my head lest my gaze betray too much,"I

shall not disappoint you. My life, my soul, my very breath is yours to

command,"

He stepped closer, and though the chill of his presence would strike

terror in any other heart, to me it was ecstasy. His voice, deep, resonant,

inexorable poured over me like dark velvet.

"Be swift, my dearest Gem, He will arrive anon. Signal me when the time

is ripe, and I shall claim what is mine."

I dared to raise my eyes then, and the sight near unmade me. His form

arrayed in a grey suit of impeccable cut, the fabric caressing shoulders

wrought like marble, his countenance severe yet magnificent. Jet black hair

framed a visage of cruel perfection, and beneath his brow burned eyes Red as

smouldering embers, eyes in which I would gladly drown.

How I longed to cry out my love for him, to cast aside all pretense. Yet

I held my tongue, for duty demanded silence. Soon, very soon, the mortal shall

be undone, and Aldo shall reign and I, ever faithful, shall reign at his side.

Dante POV

"come on, this is her room," I whispered, leading Azzurro with me. My

hand trembled as I reached for the latch. Some nameless dread pressed upon my

chest, for the air itself carried a faint, acrid taint, the unmistakable scent

of a demon.

"Do you smell it," Azzurro asked, his voice low, almost reverent with

fear. I wished to deny it, yet in truth he was right. The stench was fresh, as

though some dark presence had but lately passed.

"Let us get in quickly," I urged. "If danger lurks here, then she may be

in peril." Without further pause, I flung the door wide.

And there she was. Gem, seated in an armchair as though enthroned, her

beauty radiant as ever. Yet her eyes, gods help me, her eyes were afire with

malice I had never before seen.

"Are you well, mi amore?," I asked, my voice breaking the silence.

She regarded me with a gaze of cold hatred."well? I am more than well.

It is you, Dante, who hast sealed your own downfall."

I staggered beneath her words. "Downfall? What do you mean?"

"You poor, wretched humans," she sneered. "so easily led, so easily

deceived. That is why we delight in you. You are nothing but pawns upon a board

you cannot even see."

Humans? My mind reeled," What nonsense is this? You are human too, mi

amore. Surely you jest-"

But Azzurro, standing at my side, was pale as a corpse. His voice

trembled. "No… she is no woman. She is a demon."

At this, Gem's lips curved into a smile, not the gentle smile I

cherished, but something cruel and mocking. She laughed, the sound so sharp and

unnatural that it made my blood run cold."Your so-called assistant sees more

clearly than you, Dante. Truly, you are the blindest of them all,"

Before I could utter another word, the air split with a sudden crack. A

portal yawned open in the centre on the chamber, its darkness boiling with

fire. From its depths stepped a tall figure, his eyes burning with a dreadful

red light, his very presence exuding an aura that crushed the breath from my

lungs.

"It is a pleasure at last," the figure said with a wicked grin,"to meet

the keeper of the bracelets. I am Aldo Morrezzo sovereign of demons."

My heart faltered."No," I whispered." No… please. Tell me this is not

so. Tell me you are not one of them!"

I turned, desperate to find Gem, the woman I loved but she was gone.

Her voice rang out, mocking, unseen."You pitiful human. Did you truly

believe I cared for you? That I loved you? You are more foolish than I

imagined." Her laughter echoed through the chamber, each note striking me like

a blade.

"Now," said Aldo, his grin widening,"Be a good little mortal. Hand over

the bracelets and perhaps I shall let you live."

 I can scarcely believe how

careless I have been. How would Azzurro see me now, What have I done, I must

find some way to amend this error.

"Congelare." The word, spoken with Great authority by Aldo, struck me

like a blow. At once my body grew rigid, every limb bound in a dreadful

stillness. I felt it first, there something in him, something beyond the mark

of a mere demon. His very presence carried a scent unlike any other, as though

shadow and fire clung to him in equal measure.

Now I regret my lack of vigilance, for I have failed in the duty

entrusted to me. I fell on my knees, powerless against the weight of the

ability used. Shame, despair and betrayal. I could only pray in silence that my

ancestors look kindly upon me,and forgive this grievous mistake.
