Marcus
"I play soccer along with noah,
he's one of my best friends," I say to Callie as we walk to the school
entrance.
"sounds like fun, I'll
definitely come watch you guys play," Callie walks ahead to her locker. We had
talked a lot since we shared the last three classes.
I wait for her while she puts
her books in her locker, I look around to spot Riley speed walking my way. She
looked panicked so I move forward to meet her.
"What happened..," I asked
once she was close enough, I notice she was panting like she'd just ran.
"Noah got in a fight, and he
needs you," she manages to say in one breath but I don't wait for her to finish,
I'm already moving towards the entrance.
She yells where he would be
but I barely catch it. I move behind the gym to find Noah surrounded by the
boys.
Bryce and his four other
lackeys, Everyone knew and feared them, they acted like they ran the school. They
were loud, cocky and always looking for someone to mess with.
"come on man, five on one is a
little unfair don't you think," I sigh dramatically looking at the five boys
and sizing them up.
Bryce turns to look at me with
raised brows, stunned by my interruption. "who do you think you are hmm, trying
to play hero, you should have told your dumbass of a friend to keep my name out
of his mouth,"
I make eye contact with Noah
to know if he's good to which he nods In response. Bryce looks between us and
scoffs, we all wait with deafening silence before Bryce shoved Noah which
caused Noah to shove him back harder.
Everything broke loose fast,
no time to think. Fists, shoves, shoes scraping concrete. Someone grabs my arm,
I twisted and elbowed him off, and threw a punch that landed clean.
A wild punch is thrown at Noah.
He ducked under and his elbow into the guy's stomach.
People had started coming out
to see the fight take place, I quickly spot Riley before I was shoved to the
ground hard. I could taste the blood in my mouth.
I stood up and turned to face
Bryce," This has been fun but we gotta end this here," I say in between breaths
while bryce glares at me.
He turns to look at Noah,
whose also breathing hard and has a Bruise forming, he was still being
surrounded by two other lackeys aside the ones I've beating.
"Fuck you and that little
bitch, don't ever have my name in your bitch ass mouth again," He moved towards
me and I was ready to duck. Before anyone could throw another punch, a shout
cut through the air.
"Hey! What's going on back
here." Mr Reynolds, our gym coach, storms towards us, while everyone watching
the fight leaves hurriedly.
"You boys again, how many
times have I warned you to stop, to the principals office all of you Now!!," he
yells at us.
He's about to leave when he
spots me and Noah, the anger on his face multiplies. "I don't need my top
players getting involved in fights, once you're done from the principals office
meet me at the field," he glares at us one more time and ushers us towards the
office.
I step closer to Noah," You
good," he nodded, rubbing his jaw." Yeah. You?" I shrugged.
Noah smiles at me softly, he
knows I hate getting involved in fights. "Thanks for the help, even though I
didn't need it," he jokes and I scoff at his words trying to hide my smile.
We arrived at the principal's
office, greeted the receptionist then went in to see her staring expressionless
at Bryce and the others. She turned to look at us and ushered us to have a sit.
"You boys are always causing
trouble!," she said, her tone calm but her eyes looked very pissed. "I won't
tolerate this indiscipline anymore, what do you have to say for yourselves,"
They mumbled out apologies looking down.
"Detention for 2 weeks and if
I find out you skipped any of the days, you will be suspended, you may leave. and
get those injuries treated." The boys get up to leave but not before throwing a
look in our direction.
"Since when did you involve
yourself in fights Marcus," I turn to face the principal.
Principal Judith Crowe had
this way of making everyone go quiet the second she walked in. She didn't yell
or throw her weight around- she looked at you and somehow that was way worse.
Her gray eyes stared at me, expressionless
but at the same time calculating.
"I asked a question Marcus,"
she didn't raise her voice- she never does.
"I don't," I say casually with
a shrug. She doesn't say anything for a while and I begin to feel uncomfortable
so I turned my eyes to look at Noah, whose staring right at the floor, his
shoulder rigid and tense.
"Detention, for you both, the
entire week. You not have started the fight but you were still involved, are we
clear?" we both nod our heads,"yes ma'am,". "Good, you may leave."
We left the office and headed
to the field,"what do you think coach is gonna do," I chuckled knowing we were
about to run a lot of laps.
We spent 2 hours running
around the field before coach finally let us leave. My body felt heavy and I
was beyond exhausted.
We head to the parking lot to
see Riley resting against my car," you waited for us?" I said to her once we
were within earshot.
"ofcourse I did, I thought you
had detention." She looked between noah and I worriedly.
"coach made us run laps
instead for today," I get out my keys from my bag.
"Awwn where you worried about
me princess," Riley glared at him and got into my car with a scoff. "can you
run him over already,"
I laugh at that and shook my
head at them," see you tomorrow Noah, don't get into any more fights," I
playfully say
"Noted sir catch you guys
tomorrow, bye princess," he walks towards his car.
"oh suck my..," I drive off
before she could finish cussing at him with a laugh.
