At Tyrion's residence, three days after his wedding, he had barely risen from his chair when news of the Red Wedding arrived.
When he first heard that Walder had initiated the Red Wedding, Tyrion's immediate thought was that his brother-in-law Robb and his nominal mother-in-law were finished.
But upon hearing the full story, he was astonished to learn that they had actually escaped back to Riverrun. He couldn't fathom how, despite such meticulous planning, Walder could have allowed them to slip away.
He approached Sansa, who was standing by the window, lost in thought, and told her the news. Her reaction mirrored his own—shock followed by relief that her mother and brother had survived.

Three days later, order gradually returned to Yunkai after several days of chaos. Daenerys, following the advice of Jorah and others, decided to remain in Yunkai until the city was fully stabilized before proceeding to liberate Meereen, the last slave city in Slaver's Bay.
Drogon spent his days training the two young dragons, eating, and sleeping. He felt less like a dragon and more like a pig.
On the surface, everything in Yunkai appeared normal. Rhaegal and Viserion, after days of brutal and fearful training, showed significant improvement. They could now evade the Night King's javelins, and even a surprise attack from a ballista would be unlikely to harm them.
Drogon decided to return to Westeros to check on the situation. As a dragon, he was deeply concerned about the state of affairs there.
Three hours later, he arrived at his first stop, Dragonstone. As soon as Drogon landed on Shireen's windowsill, he saw her. The young girl seemed to have been waiting for him, but her usual excitement was noticeably absent.
"Drogon, you're finally here! Davos said you'd tell him as soon as you arrived," Shireen said urgently.
Davos being so anxious to see him must mean something serious had happened. Drogon retrieved food from his satchel and offered it to Shireen. Then, taking out paper and a pen, he asked if Davos had been released from the dungeon.
Shireen was surprised that Drogon knew about Davos's release. She then relayed Davos's message to him.
Davos hoped Drogon would quickly arrange for Shireen's evacuation. He was responsible for escorting her to a hidden location on Stone Dragon Island.
"Why are you sending me away? Is it because Father burned Uncle?" Shireen asked Drogon, pouting after Davos had finished giving him his instructions.
Shireen was remarkably intelligent and had indeed guessed the reason for her departure from Dragonstone. Drogon couldn't help but feel sorry for her; anyone who learned that their loving father might have burned them alive would be devastated.
Drogon gently clasped Shireen's small hand in comfort. Tears welled in her eyes, but she held them back.
Drogon was unsure how much his arrival had altered the world. With her uncle burned to death, would Stannis's burning of his daughter happen sooner? He didn't want to risk it.
"Wait for me!"
Leaving her with those two words, Drogon bid her farewell and flew toward King's Landing.
An hour later, he returned to the Flea Bottom slums of King's Landing. He retrieved the letter Varys had left behind, its contents roughly as follows:
Tyrion had married Sansa, and Joffrey's wedding was scheduled for tomorrow. Robb would attend the Red Wedding as planned, escaping to Riverrun with Catelyn and over a dozen nobles. Other news remained unchanged.
Seeing that Tyrion had already married Sansa, Drogon could only imagine the life he was now living.
It must have been agonizing for Tyrion to stare at Sansa's *big white rabbit* dangling right before him all day and yet be unable to take a bite. The thought was almost amusing.
Robb still attended the Red Wedding and managed to escape. It seems Varys had already sent them the warning. What kind of fools jump into the fire even after receiving a warning? Drogon didn't know what to say to them.
Without leaving a message for Varys, Drogon decided to visit him directly.
After flying to the north of the city where Varys lived, Drogon observed the courtyard from atop a large tree. Seeing no one entering or leaving, he landed on the roof, wrote a note for Varys, and returned to the tree to wait quietly.
The house where the Male Warlock was housed was merely one of his hidden residences; finding him there would have been even less likely.
After waiting for over twenty minutes, Drogon finally saw Varys strolling slowly from a distant alley. He immediately swooped down and placed the note on the stone table.
Varys opened the courtyard gate and habitually glanced at the stone table. Just as he was turning away, he spotted the familiar parchment.
He couldn't help but look up at the large trees outside the courtyard and then at a taller building in the distance. He strongly suspected that a pair of eyes were watching him from both locations.
After a quick scan revealed nothing out of the ordinary, Varys lowered his gaze and picked up the parchment. The handwriting seemed slightly different from before, more elegant, but the signature remained the same: "The Mysterious One."
The message was simple: he was to send someone to Dragonstone to retrieve a young girl. This girl, he learned, was of special significance—the niece of the late King Robert and the daughter of Duke Stannis.
As he read the first half of the letter, Varys frowned. He had heard of the girl. She had contracted Greyscale as a child, and although cured, the disease had left her face disfigured by terrible scars.
He couldn't understand why the Mysterious One, who served Queen Daenerys, would smuggle her out of Dragonstone. Could there be a conspiracy against Stannis?
This thought flashed through his mind, but as he continued reading, he discovered the reason for the Mysterious One's actions: to save her.
Stannis, following the advice of Melisandre, the Red Priestess of the Lord of Light, had burned Shireen's uncle to death, and the letter implied he might do the same to Shireen.
After finishing the letter, Varys felt a surge of anger. He couldn't believe that Stannis, known for his unwavering resolve and ruthless pragmatism, could be so deluded by the Red Priestess as to consider sacrificing his own daughter.
Ever since he was persecuted by a Male Warlock in his youth, Varys had harbored a deep-seated aversion to all things mysterious and unknown, and he loathed the reckless and arbitrary use of magic with particular intensity.
After Tyrion was severely wounded while defending King's Landing, Varys visited him. This was partly due to Tyrion's capabilities as Hand, and partly to thank him for defeating Stannis's army, which had been misled by the Red Priestess.
When Varys learned from the letter that Stannis intended to burn his own daughter alive, he might have tried to rescue Shireen even without the mysterious man's request.
Seeing the mysterious man's reasons for smuggling Shireen out, Varys couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. Although he had agreed to the mysterious man's early pledge of allegiance to Daenerys, it wasn't a one-sided decision.
Moreover, he was somewhat wary of the mysterious man's unpredictable deductions and schemes.
Back then, he had only told Varys that Walder would host a Red Wedding for the Starks and their mother, without mentioning anything else. Varys didn't know his purpose. After failing to decipher the mysterious man's intentions, he decided to send a letter to Robb in his own way, saving them from disaster.
Now, it seemed the mysterious man had known Varys wouldn't stand by and watch Catelyn and her son die, and had used him to save them.
Regardless of the mysterious man's motives for saving Robb and his mother, Varys now understood his purpose in saving Shireen. He didn't suspect the mysterious man would try to use Shireen for anything. Since Stannis was willing to burn his own daughter, how could Daenerys possibly use Shireen to threaten him?
