Chapter 4 - The Marriage Registration

Morning arrived quietly over the Su Residence.

The night's disturbance had already been erased on the surface—guards dismissed it as a minor formation fluctuation, elders convinced themselves it was nothing unusual.

But in the deepest part of the estate…

Su Chen knew better.

He had crossed two realms in a single night.

And something inside his dantian still pulsed faintly, unstable yet obedient—like a sealed beast waiting for permission to awaken fully.

He exhaled once, then opened his eyes.

Today was not for cultivation.

It was for conclusion.

---

A black luxury car stopped outside the Su Residence gates.

Unlike cultivation families who moved in secrecy, this one made no attempt to hide its presence.

Civilian license.

Modern design.

But the faint protective talismans engraved beneath the chassis told another story.

Lin Yanyan stepped out first.

Still dressed in her sharp black suit.

Still carrying that same cold, burning confidence.

But today, there was something different in her expression.

Purpose.

Behind her, an older man followed—her legal advisor, carrying documents.

She didn't waste time looking around.

She walked straight into the Su Residence like she owned half the world already.

The guards tried to stop her.

She didn't even slow down.

"Step aside," she said calmly.

Her voice carried no cultivation pressure.

But somehow…

They stepped aside anyway.

---

In main hall Su Mu was already waiting.

So were the elders.

And Su Chen.

He stood near the center of the hall, hands relaxed behind his back, expression unreadable.

When Lin Yanyan entered, her eyes immediately locked onto him.

A brief silence passed.

Then she spoke first.

"I don't like delays."

Straightforward.

No greeting.

No ceremony.

Su Chen nodded slightly.

"I don't either."

That made one of the elders frown.

"This is a formal engagement matter," the elder said. "Not a casual conversation."

Lin Yanyan turned her head slightly.

"I'm here to formalize it."

She gestured to her advisor.

The man stepped forward and placed a thick document on the table.

"Marriage registration agreement," he said.

"In both civil law and family alliance structure."

The hall shifted slightly.

Even Su Mu's eyes narrowed.

Marriage registration.

Not just engagement anymore.

A binding legal union between two powerful families—one fading cultivation lineage, one modern corporate empire with hidden influence.

But Su Chen didn't react emotionally.

He only looked at Lin Yanyan.

"You're moving faster than expected."

She met his gaze directly.

"I don't waste time testing uncertainty."

A pause.

Then she added:

"And I already tested you last night."

That made the hall go silent.

Su Chen's eyes narrowed slightly.

"Oh?"

Lin Yanyan stepped forward one step.

"I don't know what you did," she said calmly, "but the energy fluctuation from your room last night wasn't normal."

Her gaze sharpened.

"It felt like something was… collapsing and rebuilding at the same time."

The elders stiffened instantly.

Su Mu's aura shifted.

Su Chen, however, remained still.

Interesting.

She noticed.

Even without cultivation senses.

She noticed.

That alone made her far more dangerous than she appeared.

Lin Yanyan continued.

"I don't care what you are hiding."

She placed her hand on the document.

"I care whether you can stand beside me without becoming a burden."

Then she pushed it toward him.

"Sign it."

Direct.

No hesitation.

No emotional softness.

Just decision.

---

The hall waited.

The elders expected hesitation.

Su Mu expected conflict.

But Su Chen simply looked at the document.

Marriage.

In his previous life, it meant nothing.

In this life…

It was something different.

A connection.

A binding of two worlds.

One rooted in hidden cultivation.

One rooted in modern power.

And standing between them—

A woman who burned like fire but refused to be consumed by anything.

Su Chen finally spoke.

"You're not afraid I'll disappoint you?"

Lin Yanyan didn't even blink.

"If you disappoint me, I'll leave."

Simple.

Cold.

Absolute.

"No hesitation," Su Chen said quietly.

"I don't tolerate hesitation," she replied.

A faint silence passed between them.

Then Su Chen picked up the pen.

Not slowly.

Not dramatically.

Just naturally.

And signed.

One stroke.

Clean.

Final.

The hall shifted.

Something invisible settled into place.

Not emotion.

Not sentiment.

A contract between two wills.

The advisor immediately confirmed the registration.

"It is legally binding," he said.

Su Mu closed his eyes briefly, exhaling.

The elders exchanged looks.

The Su family had just entered a completely new phase.

Lin Yanyan took the document back and reviewed it once.

Then nodded.

"Good."

She turned slightly to leave.

But paused.

Without looking back, she spoke.

"Don't misunderstand."

"This doesn't mean I trust you."

Su Chen answered calmly.

"I didn't expect you to."

That made her stop for half a second.

Just half.

Then she continued walking.

But before she reached the door, she added:

"Tomorrow, I return to my company."

"If you're still standing in place when I come back…"

Her voice sharpened slightly.

"Then this marriage was a mistake."

And she left.

---

Silence filled the hall.

One elder finally spoke.

"She's too arrogant."

Another frowned.

"Or too confident."

Su Mu looked at Su Chen.

"You don't seem surprised."

Su Chen placed his hands behind his back again.

"I've seen worse people than her."

That wasn't a lie.

But it wasn't the full truth either.

Because what interested him most…

Was not her attitude.

It was her perception.

She had sensed something last night.

Something even cultivators might have missed.

He turned slightly toward the window.

"Lin Yanyan…"

A faint smile appeared.

"You might be more useful than I thought."

Outside, the city moved on as always.

But within Su Chen's body—

The Primordial Core pulsed once.

As if responding to something new.

Something… connected.
