Chapter 7 - Mine

The Su Residence was unusually tense.

Word of the assassin hadn't spread publicly, but within the inner circle, everyone felt it. Guards were doubled. Formations reinforced. Even the elders stayed closer to the main halls than usual.

But none of that mattered to Su Chen.

He stood in the courtyard, hands behind his back, eyes half-closed.

The morning air moved gently.

Energy flowed.

Not around him—

Toward him.

The Primordial Body didn't actively cultivate anymore.

It simply… existed.

And the world adjusted.

A faint ripple passed through his senses.

He opened his eyes.

"She's here."

The gates opened without resistance.

No announcement.

No delay.

Lin Yanyan walked in like she belonged there.

Black coat, heels steady against the stone floor, eyes sharp as ever.

But today—

There was no restraint.

The guards exchanged glances but didn't stop her.

Something about her presence made refusal feel… inappropriate.

Or dangerous.

She didn't look at them.

She walked straight toward the inner courtyard.

Toward him.

They met in silence.

A few meters apart.

Neither spoke immediately.

Lin Yanyan's gaze moved over him slowly.

Not like before.

Not evaluating.

Not dismissing.

Observing.

Carefully.

Deeply.

"You changed," she said.

Su Chen didn't deny it.

"You noticed."

"I notice what belongs to me."

The words came out naturally.

No hesitation.

No embarrassment.

The air shifted slightly.

Su Chen's eyes narrowed a fraction.

"That's a bold claim."

Lin Yanyan stepped closer.

One step.

Then another.

Until the distance between them was almost nothing.

"You signed the marriage."

Her voice was calm.

"But don't misunderstand it."

Her eyes locked onto his.

"That wasn't just a contract."

There was something dangerous in her gaze now.

Something intense.

"You're mine now."

The words landed quietly.

But heavily.

Su Chen looked at her for a moment.

Then he laughed softly.

Not mocking.

Just… amused.

"You speak like possession is absolute."

"It is."

No hesitation.

No doubt.

Lin Yanyan didn't blink.

"I don't share."

Silence stretched between them.

The faint wind in the courtyard slowed.

Even the distant guards felt something wrong and instinctively stepped back.

Su Chen leaned slightly closer.

"Then what do you do," he asked quietly, "if what you're holding… isn't something you can control?"

A dangerous question.

Most people would have stepped back.

Lin Yanyan didn't.

Instead—

She reached out.

And grabbed his collar.

Firm.

Direct.

Her face came closer.

Too close.

"Then I don't control it," she said softly.

Her eyes burned.

"I keep it."

A pause.

Then—

"Even if I have to break everything else."

For a moment—

Nothing moved.

Then—

A faint pressure spread from Su Chen's body.

Not aggressive.

But real.

The ground beneath their feet cracked slightly.

The air thickened.

Normal people wouldn't even be able to breathe properly under it.

But Lin Yanyan…

Didn't move.

Didn't flinch.

Didn't let go.

Her grip tightened slightly instead.

Her lips curved faintly.

"So it's true."

There was something like satisfaction in her voice.

"You're hiding something… interesting."

Su Chen looked at her hand on his collar.

Then back at her eyes.

No fear.

No hesitation.

Only intensity.

He reached up slowly—

And removed her hand.

Not forcefully.

Just enough.

"You're not afraid," he said.

Lin Yanyan tilted her head slightly.

"Should I be?"

A pause.

Then she added:

"If you wanted to hurt me… you already would have."

Silence.

Then she stepped even closer.

Now their distance was almost gone.

"You won't," she said softly.

Not a guess.

A statement.

Su Chen didn't answer immediately.

Because she was right.

Not because he couldn't.

But because he had no reason to.

And that…

Was something he hadn't expected.

He looked at her for a moment longer.

Then spoke.

"You came here for confirmation."

"Yes."

"And now?"

Lin Yanyan's expression didn't change.

But her voice lowered slightly.

"Now I know."

A faint smile appeared.

Dangerous.

Possessive.

Satisfied.

"My husband… isn't useless."

Before Su Chen could respond—

A sudden fluctuation cut through the courtyard.

Sharp.

Fast.

Killing intent.

Both of them turned at the same time.

A blade flashed from the shadows—

Not toward Su Chen.

Toward Lin Yanyan.

Fast enough that even most cultivators wouldn't react in time.

But—

The blade never reached her.

Su Chen's hand caught it mid-air.

Two fingers.

That was all.

The assassin froze.

Another one.

Stronger than the last.

Foundation Establishment—

Mid Stage.

But his attack had already failed.

Completely.

"You chose the wrong target," Su Chen said calmly.

The assassin tried to pull back—

But couldn't.

Su Chen's fingers tightened slightly.

Crack.

The blade shattered.

The assassin's expression changed instantly.

Before he could react further—

Su Chen stepped forward.

One movement.

One strike.

The same as before.

Simple.

Direct.

Final.

The assassin's body collapsed.

Dead before he hit the ground.

Silence returned.

Again.

Lin Yanyan didn't look at the body.

She looked at Su Chen.

Her eyes were brighter now.

Not from fear.

From confirmation.

"You didn't hesitate."

"Why would I?" Su Chen replied.

She took a step closer again.

Her voice softened slightly.

"Good."

Then—

She reached out again.

But this time—

Not to grab his collar.

Her fingers rested lightly against his chest.

Right above his heart.

She felt it.

That faint, unnatural pulse beneath the surface.

Her eyes darkened slightly.

"You really are something special…"

A pause.

Then, almost like a whisper—

"And you're mine."

Su Chen looked down at her hand.

Then back at her.

There was no reasoning with that kind of certainty.

No logic to argue against it.

Only will.

And hers…

Didn't bend.

He didn't remove her hand this time.

Instead, he said quietly:

"Then keep up."

Her lips curved again.

"I always do."

In the distance, the Su family guards finally arrived.

Too late.

Again.

They looked at the two bodies on the ground—

Then at Su Chen—

Then at Lin Yanyan standing beside him.

No one spoke.

Because something had already changed.

Not just in power.

But in balance.

As Lin Yanyan turned to leave, she didn't look back.

But her voice carried clearly.

"I'll come again tomorrow."

A pause.

Then softer—

"You'd better not disappear."

Su Chen watched her leave.

Then exhaled slowly.

"…Troublesome."

But there was no annoyance in his voice.

Only quiet acknowledgment.

Because for the first time—

Something in this world had taken interest in him…

And refused to let go.
