Chapter 33 - Back to home

Jay Jay's POV

Finally the bell rang signalling departure and I literally felt like crying from happiness. Finally I can go home where no one is gonna irritate me, no annoying classmates, no chaos, no Keifer...well actually chaos follows me everywhere so maybe I shouldn't expect peace anymore.

I walked outside the school building while fixing my bag on my shoulder and immediately spotted Percy's black car parked near the gate. Ofcourse he had to make an entrance. The sunlight reflected against the expensive car while Percy casually leaned against it looking like he walked out of some business magazine cover.

He was dressed in a perfectly fitted black suit with a dark navy blue tie, the top two buttons of his white shirt slightly loose. His silver watch shined under the sunlight and his hair was perfectly styled back. Actually I don't admit it out loud but Percy is really good looking. The blue eyes, sharp jawline, tall height...everything about him screams rich spoiled businessman.

Too bad his personality ruins it.

I opened the car door and sat inside throwing my bag at the backseat.

"Percy let's go home fast I'm really tired from the chaos from here..." I groaned while leaning back against the seat.

He smirked while starting the engine. "Is it because of Keifer?"

I immediately looked at him with irritation. "Shut up and drive."

He laughed softly making me roll my eyes.

"And why are you dressed up like you're ready to close a million dollar deal?" I asked while looking at his outfit again.

"Because maybe I actually am?" he said dramatically before grinning. "Well baby sista I'm going to NYC tonight for some important work..."

I nodded absentmindedly until he casually added, "And you have to stay at Fernandez house till then."

I straightened immediately. "No way Percy are you out of your mind? I can live in your apartment I'm not a small kid."

"Jay—"

"No because seriously why are you acting like I'm five?"

His playful expression slowly disappeared and for the first time since he picked me up he actually looked serious.

"I know you're not a kid," he sighed softly while focusing on the road. "But it's not safe for you right now yk that. Your birthday is coming soon and our aunt won't miss any chance to hurt you. I can't leave you alone while I'm in another country."

I stayed silent.

"I already talked to Angelo and he agreed. I'll only be gone till tomorrow night."

I looked outside the window watching the busy streets pass by. Sometimes I hate how Percy becomes overprotective but deep down I know he's right. Ever since our family issues got worse things have been dangerous around me.

"Okay..." I finally muttered quietly. "But come back fast."

He smiled slightly. "I will."

"And what about my stuff?"

"Jay you already have clothes and other things at Fernandez house."

Ofcourse I do. That house practically became my second home months ago.

The rest of the drive was peaceful. Soft music played in the background while I stared outside the window watching the city slowly turn darker as evening approached. Honestly after today's chaos my body felt completely drained.

After around thirty minutes we finally reached Fernandez mansion. The huge black gates slowly opened revealing the elegant mansion surrounded by warm lights and tall palm trees. The place somehow always felt comforting no matter how grand it looked.

Percy stopped the car near the entrance before looking at me. "Byy Jay I'm getting late for my flight."

I unbuckled my seatbelt and looked at him. "Okay Percy byy...and be safe."

He smiled softly and ruffled my hair making me glare at him instantly. "Don't die while I'm gone."

"Get lost."

He laughed before driving away leaving me standing there alone.

I slowly turned toward the huge Fernandez mansion and exhaled sharply.

Okay Jay...it's just for two days. You can survive this.

I walked inside and the familiar warmth of the house instantly hit me. The workers greeted me politely and before I could even properly look around, Aries walked into the hallway.

He looked genuinely surprised after seeing me. "Jay?"

"What? Why are you looking at me like I came here illegally?" I frowned.

He let out a small laugh. "No it's just sudden..."

Before he could continue, tita suddenly appeared from the living room. The moment her eyes landed on me her entire face brightened.

"Jay anak!"

She immediately walked toward me and pulled me into a tight hug. Her hugs always felt so warm and comforting...the type that makes you forget every problem for few seconds.

"I really missed you baby I'm so happy you're back," she said while holding my face gently. "Angelo already told me everything."

I smiled softly while looking at her. She really is such a pure soul...completely different from her cruel sister and my so called biological mother. Sometimes I wonder how two sisters can be so different from each other.

"You must be hungry come let's eat first."

"Okay tita," I smiled softly finally feeling some kind of peace after the exhausting day. "I'll just freshen up quickly."

I walked upstairs toward my room and the moment I opened the door nostalgia instantly hit me. The room still looked exactly the same as before. The soft cream curtains moved gently because of the evening breeze coming from the slightly open balcony doors. The fairy lights near the bookshelf gave the room a warm glow while the faint lavender scent immediately relaxed my mind.

My old stuffed bear still sat on the corner of the bed and I couldn't help but smile a little seeing it still there.

I placed my bag down and removed my school blouse throwing it lazily over the chair before loosening my tie. My shoulders instantly felt lighter.

God today was exhausting.

I walked into the bathroom turning on the warm water before washing my face slowly. The cold mirror reflected my tired expression. My mind automatically replayed today's events...especially Keifer.

His face.

His voice.

The way he looked at me today.

Why does he always manage to disturb my peace without even trying?

I sighed frustratingly before pushing those thoughts away.

I quickly changed into an oversized black hoodie that almost reached my thighs and comfortable grey shorts. After drying my hair with a towel I tied it into a messy bun and sprayed a little perfume before finally stepping out of the room.

The delicious smell of food instantly filled the hallway making my stomach growl quietly.

Okay maybe I was starving.

The next morning...

"OH MY GOD I'M LATE AGAIN?!"

I immediately sat up on the bed after seeing the time on my phone. My blanket fell dramatically to the floor while I stared at the screen in horror.

Not again. Why does this always happen to me?

And to make things worse that horoscope brother of mine is going to pick me up today.

No way.

I quickly rushed toward the bathroom almost crashing into the door. I brushed my teeth at lightning speed while splashing cold water on my face repeatedly trying to wake myself up. My brain was still half asleep while my body was already in panic mode.

"Why does school even start this early..." I groaned while staring at my reflection.

After taking a quick shower I walked back into the room wrapped in a towel and immediately started getting ready. I quickly wore my uniform while trying not to trip over my own feet. My tie somehow ended up sideways twice before I finally fixed it properly.

I brushed my hair quickly leaving it open over my shoulders before grabbing my blazer, phone and bag from the bed.

Knock Knock.

"Jay get ready fast you're so slow!" Aries shouted from outside my room.

"COMMING WAITTT!" I yelled back while struggling with my shoe.

I grabbed my bag and rushed downstairs so fast I almost slipped near the last step.

The moment I entered the dining area I froze.

Aries was already having breakfast while scrolling through his phone casually.

And well...

The grim reaper himself.

Kuya Angelo.

He sat at the head of the table dressed in formal black while looking at his tablet with his usual cold intimidating expression like he was handling million dollar business deals before sunrise.

Shit Jay.

The way you got out of this house months ago with full attitude and dramatic dialogue...and now you have to face him again.

No Goddd...

I should just run away from here. Breakfast later. Survival first.

I slowly started backing away toward the main door trying to sneak out unnoticed.

Almost there...

"Jayy?"

I froze immediately.

Tita smiled warmly from the kitchen after noticing me. "Oh you're ready baby come have breakfast."

"Umm tita actually I would just goo..."

"Wait Jay have breakfast or you won't probably die from hunger."

Aries immediately laughed loudly while I glared at him.

"Very funny."

I sighed dramatically before walking toward the dining table and sitting down beside Aries. Tita immediately placed breakfast in front of me while smiling lovingly.

"Eat properly before school okay?"

"Okay tita..." I muttered softly before starting to eat quietly.

Everything was peaceful for exactly five seconds.

"Well what's your plan?" Kuya Angelo suddenly asked without looking up from his tablet.

"I'm going to school..." I replied cautiously while eating.

"About Keifer?"

I completely froze mid bite.

What should I be planning? Strangling him to death?

"I know you two have a thing," he said casually like we were discussing weather conditions.

I stared at him in complete horror. "What thing? There's nothing like that kuya you're just—"

"Stop lying Jay. I know everything."

I almost choked on my juice while Aries looked seconds away from dying from laughter.

Kuya Angelo finally looked up from the tablet before shaking his head slightly. "Where do you think your nonsense will lead you?"

"Well...I will complete my studies?" I replied carefully because honestly that sounded like the safest answer possible.

"I never said you wouldn't," he replied calmly. "Even if you got pregnant now you'd still graduate."

I almost dropped my fork.

"WHY WOULD I GET PREGNANT?!"

Aries burst out laughing loudly while holding his stomach.

Kuya Angelo looked completely unbothered. "Just a hunch."

"What kind of hunch is that?!" I replied in complete shock while my face turned bright red from embarrassment. "I don't believe you. Your social instinct sucks kuya."

I immediately grabbed my bag wanting to escape before this conversation got even worse.

Aries was already standing near the door wearing his jacket.

"Come fast turtle!" he shouted from outside.

What the hell? Ten seconds ago he was sitting right here and now he's outside. Wow he's fast.

"ALRIGHT I'M COMMING!" I yelled back while quickly fixing my skirt properly and rushing toward the entrance.

As I passed by the dining table Kuya Angelo finally spoke again.

"Jay take care."

I slowed down slightly before glancing back at him. He was already back to looking at his tablet but his voice sounded softer this time.

"...Yeah."

Then I quickly rushed outside before anyone could embarrass me further.
