Shawn's POV
I woke up, took a shower, got dressed, and headed to work like everything in my life was completely normal.
Like I hadn't woken up in the woods covered in blood a day ago.
Like people in the city weren't talking about some unknown creature roaming around at night.
Like I wasn't constantly terrified that one wrong move would expose me completely.
But despite all that, despite everything hanging over my head, I couldn't deny something anymore.
Jean was the reason I hadn't given up on life, the only reason I was still trying.
He made life feel worth reaching for.
The thought of seeing him this morning alone filled me with enough energy to get out of bed and force myself into another day. I wanted to see his face. Wanted to hear his voice. Wanted to stand near him long enough to feel like maybe I could handle the mess my life had become.
Because for the first time in years, I had someone who genuinely cared about me.
