Chapter 9 The Man Who Lost His Fighting Spirit! Sig!

Early spring of the year 1512 in the Haiyuan calendar.

In the town of Shells, at a newly opened hotel restaurant last winter, a fierce-looking, burly man named Sieg slammed a beer down on the table.

The guest stood up, dissatisfied.

"What are you looking at? If you look again, I'll gouge your eyes out and use them as a snack with my drinks!" Sig glared down at the guest.

"No, it's nothing."

The customer, his face covered in sweat, obediently sat down, thinking to himself that he wouldn't have come to a place like this to drink if it weren't for the hot female owner.

"Sig, you're being rude to the guests again! What did I tell you? The customers are Bailey, you have to love them!"

A sweet roar came, and Sieg's expression changed. A tall woman walked into the restaurant. She had fiery red hair, bright red lips, and fair skin. She wore a red short top that could not cover her ample breasts, and red trousers that revealed her slender waist and slightly protruding abdomen.

Slurp...

A series of swallowing sounds followed, clearly indicating that the woman had an incredibly hot figure.

The woman glanced sideways with a seductive look. The only customer in the shop lowered his head and pretended to drink. She snorted disdainfully, thinking, "Another coward with a heart."

Sig gave the woman a fawning smile and moved closer.

"Politaya, what brings you here? You're pregnant, you should rest well."

Politaia pushed Sig aside, sat at the bar, picked up a glass of ale, gulped it down, wiped the beer stains from her lips, let out a burp, and said, "If I didn't come, would you have any customers?"

Sieg was speechless.

The door creaked open.

The three people inside the store all looked outside at the same time.

A tall, slender young man stepped in. He was wearing a blue short-sleeved shirt, light gray trousers, and flip-flops. His short black hair and tanned skin made him stand out from the crowd.

Sig paused for a moment, then happily opened his arms to greet the boy and gave him a bear hug.

Sieg drove away the restaurant's only customer and closed it down.

"Our head chef, Lister."

"Liszt, my wife, Politaya!"

Politaia looked at Lister, crossed his arms and said, "Sig said the food you made was the most delicious thing he had ever eaten."

Lister glanced at the surging waves that were about to burst through his clothes. Sieg was really lucky. He said politely, "That's because he has never tasted anything more delicious!"

Politaia licked her red lips slightly, and said teasingly, "Oh? You're more interesting than him. Maybe we'll have something in common."

Lister shrugged slightly: "If you want Sieg to beat me up, we can find a quiet place to talk."

Politaia laughed, her body trembling with ecstasy.

"What are you talking about?" Sig brought over two glasses of ale.

"We are discussing a topic about green," Lister said.

"The head chef is so funny." Politaya said with a charming and alluring air.

Sieg laughed heartily: "I know you'll like him; he's a funny guy. Once you taste his cooking, you'll fall in love with him."

"Really? I must try it, Sig. Don't blame me for leaving you then," Politaya joked.

"No, how could I blame you? Because I will go with him too."

Lister picked up his ale and said, "Then I'll definitely kick you out."

Sieg laughed heartily, clinked glasses with Lister, and said, "Long time no see!"

"haven't seen you for a long time!"

After finishing his ale, Politaya got up to refill his glass. The cook brought over a plate of chicken, and Sieg tore off a chicken leg and handed it to Lister.

"Is life on the island boring? Come and partner with me! With your cooking skills, we're sure to make a fortune!"

"I was kicked off the island," Lister said.

"Huh?" Sig exclaimed in surprise.

"Something happened?"

"The old man has nothing left to teach me. I defeated him." Lister accepted the ale from Politaia and thanked him.

Sieg downed half a glass of ale and laughed heartily: "Well done, now you can open a restaurant with me."

"The world is vast, Sieg," Lister said.

"Hey, are you complaining that my restaurant is too small?" Sig roared fiercely.

"Isn't it big?"

Sieg was taken aback, then downed half a glass of ale, slammed the glass on the table, laughed, and said to Politaya, "See? I told you he was an interesting fellow."

"A little man who likes to tell the truth is really cute!" Politaia winked and smiled.

Sieg sighed helplessly, "Honey, if you keep praising him, I'll get jealous."

"Sig, a man's chest should be as broad as the ocean. You said it!"

Sig was speechless, while Politaya burst into laughter.

"Have you heard? The Chef George is planning to head to the Grand Line and is recruiting crew members everywhere." Sig stopped dwelling on the restaurant topic and started talking about things at sea.

"Is that so?" Lister put down his wooden cup. He had been training on the island and knew very little about the outside world.

"I don't know, I only heard it from a guest." Sig said with mixed feelings.

"Sig, do you still want to go back to the sea?" Lister suddenly asked.

Sieg paused for a moment before smiling and saying, "My childhood dream was to own a hotel restaurant. Look, I've already achieved my dream. And Politaya is pregnant. I want to see my child born."

Lister smiled: "How about joining the navy?"

He pulled a poster out of his pocket and put it on the table: "The naval base here is recruiting! Once one dream comes true, there should always be another, right? With a restaurant and a family, you should shoulder the responsibility of protecting them."

"Are you saying I can't protect them?" Sieg grabbed Lister's collar and demanded fiercely.

Lister smiled and threw a left hook, sending Sieg flying and smashing a hole in the wooden counter.

"Ouch, that hurts!"

Sieg struggled to sit up, his cheeks swollen and his head spinning. A figure loomed over him, a nasty smile plastered on its face.

"Look at you, can you even protect them? That guy who told me he'd definitely win next time has turned into a coward. What a disappointment!"

"You brat, I'm going to beat you to a pulp!"

Sig's eyes blazed with fury as he threw a powerful punch.

Bang!

A hand easily grabbed Sieg's fist, turned him around and threw him, causing Sieg's burly body to crash into four or five tables.

Sig tried to stand up, stepping on his chest with one foot. Lister squatted down, ignoring the anger in Sig's eyes, and said, "Want to protect what you love? That's not enough! Do you know why the Giant Axe Pirates lost? Because of their arrogance, because of their weakness, because they didn't have the courage to stand up again! Sig, failure isn't scary, what's scary is losing courage. Where is your courage?"

"Damn it, brat, don't think you can lecture me just because you've gotten stronger. You were still crying when I was drinking on the high seas. Courage? Who said I've lost my courage?"

Sig gritted his teeth, his muscles bulged, his eyes widened, and he slowly lifted the foot that was pressing against his chest.
