Chapter 10 A Good Show! Two Ambitions!
Lister laughed heartily, stomped down, the floorboards shattered, and wood chips flew everywhere. He shook his head: "Sig, courage alone isn't enough!"
The poster landed on Sieg's face, who was already unable to move.
Go and become stronger!
Lister released his foot and took two steps back.
"You make it sound so easy for you. Who do you think you are? Why should I listen to you?" Sig cursed.
"Hey, what about you? What are you going to do?"
"I?"
Lister walked up to Politaya, who had been sitting there watching the play, and said to Sieg, "I would like to invite this beautiful lady to a quiet lunch."
Politaia blinked, offered her hand to Lister, and then stood up to take his arm, ignoring the shouting Sieg, saying, "It's an honor!"
Watching the man and woman leave the restaurant, Sieg angrily slammed his fist into the floor, making a hole, and puffed white breath out of his nose.
The restaurant was in a remote location with few pedestrians on the street outside. Lister glanced at Politaya and said, "Hey, can we go all out now? If we provoke him any more, I'm worried he might actually chop me up."
"Oh dear, you just said you'd invite me to lunch. Men's words are never reliable." Politaia squinted, releasing Lister's arm with a look of utter abandonment.
Liszt ignored him and said, "I'm just playing along with your performance."
Politaia grinned like a fox: "I suddenly think that turning a fake relationship into a real one wouldn't be so bad! You were so cool when you beat up Sig, I was even a little tempted!"
"Heh! What if Sieg can't pull himself together and just gives up?"
Politaia glanced back and said firmly, "I will leave him."
"How heartless! You're carrying his child."
"I'm heartless? No, it's this world that's heartless. A decadent man who drinks all day, a restaurant that never has any customers—can I rely on him? Am I supposed to go and be with another man to support him and his child? Let's be realistic!"
"Reality is truly cruel!" Liszt exclaimed.
"Thank you for your help, Lister."
"You're welcome. I'm just helping Sieg. By the way, how did you know I came to town? We don't think we've met before today, have we?"
Lister was puzzled. Not long after he arrived on the island, this woman approached him, hoping he could help her put on a show, which led to the scene at the restaurant.
Politaia produced a match and a cigarette from somewhere, lit one, and said calmly, "Ships need to register their names when docking at the port, Mr. Lister."
Lister glanced at the beautiful woman in surprise.
"Cats have their ways, and mice have theirs. I've lived here for 20 years, and as long as I want, this island holds no secrets for me," Politaya said with considerable pride.
Lister suddenly realized, and gave a thumbs up: "Once Sieg becomes a colonel at the Shells Town naval base, this island will be your home!"
"You're smarter than Sig. I told him to join the Navy when he was a kid, but he insisted on becoming a pirate. He's got no ambition. It's all Roger's fault. What a treasure! Hah!"
Politaia glanced at Lister: "You're not like those stupid pirates, thinking you're going to find some great treasure and become the Pirate King, are you?"
"Me? The world is so big, I want to see it!"
Politaia put his hand to his forehead and exhaled a puff of smoke: "Another fool who's been fooled. Has no one realized that this so-called One Piece is a scam?"
"Oh? How did you know?"
"Even a three-year-old could see that, right? If you had an endless treasure, why would you have been captured? It's been twelve years, and nobody has found the treasure. This is just a silly prank, isn't it?" Politaia said.
Who knows?
"It's laughable that a criminal's dying words have driven this world to such madness! Because of him, countless innocent people have been torn apart, died tragically, and countless people despise and hate pirates. Only pirates think they're so proud!"
"Do you have a grudge against pirates?"
"Pirates robbed my father's merchant ship and killed everyone on board."
"My parents were also killed by pirates. The town's cook adopted me until the Giant Axe Pirates came to town. They thought my cooking was delicious and forcibly took me on their ship. After one of their raids, my hands were stained with the blood of innocent people."
"That's why pirates are so despicable!"
"It's not just pirates that are despicable, but this world as well. Have you ever wondered why there are so many pirates?"
Politaia frowned and said, "Isn't it that damned will?"
"Ha, that was just the fuse. Pirate King Roger's declaration was the prelude to the Great Pirate Era, but were there no pirates before that?"
Do you know why?
"have no idea!"
Politaia squinted, scrutinizing the boy.
"Starting a new life is interesting, isn't it? I admire Roger; he lived up to the saying, 'To live as a hero, and to die as a ghost!' But I want to surpass him!"
The boy opened his arms, tilted his head back, and let the sea breeze sweeping across the street ruffle his black hair.
"I came, I saw, I conquered!"
Politaia returned to the restaurant, where Sig sat at the table.
"Where is Liszt?"
"Let's go!"
Sieg slammed his fist on the table: "You brat, don't let me see him again!"
He glanced at Politaya and asked guiltily, "He didn't take advantage of you, did he?"
"Do you want him to take advantage of your mother, or do you not want him to?"
Sieg chuckled dryly, "If he dares to take advantage of you, I'll chop him up!"
"Come on, do you think you can beat him?"
"Hmph, don't underestimate me. I'll sign up tomorrow, no, I'll go right now. Once I become a naval captain, I'll lead a warship to hunt him down!"
Sieg yelled, grabbed the recruitment poster, and ran out of the restaurant.
Politaia sighed, "His charisma far surpasses yours. He's truly a man who makes one's heart flutter!"
Under a clear sky, the azure sea rippled gently.
Boom boom boom...
The sound of cannons shattered the calm of the sea. Ferocious pirates stood on the deck, brandishing their swords and cheering, their greedy eyes fixed on the fleeing merchant ship.
How can a merchant ship fully loaded with cargo outrun a pirate ship?
After a struggle, boarding action broke out, with the merchant ship's guards and pirate henchmen locked in a fierce battle.
Just then, a small wooden boat came breaking through the waves.
A boy with tanned skin stood at the bow of the ship, his right hand on his forehead, gazing at the distant pirate ship and its flag.
"The Dylan Pirates, crossed swords piercing a skull, ah, found it!"
One-Eyed Dylan, cigar in mouth, shot the captain of the guard, completely shattering the merchant ship's resistance.
"Men, don't miss anything valuable, take everything!"
"roar!"
"Captain, something terrible has happened!"
Two pirates came running quickly.
"Captain, the boatswain is dead!"
"What?"
Dylan's one eye widened, and he roared angrily, "Tok?"
The pirates drove all the trembling passengers to the deck, some of whom were so frightened that they sobbed softly.
