Chapter 17 - Interships

Despite most of the class still feeling the high from the Sports Festival, U.A gave all its students a two-day vacation for things to calm down.

Walking towards class, I found myself looking forward to two things. 1. Seeing Sasha again (Despite her crashing at the Todoroki's) and 2. Rolling the two tickets I'd gotten. One was a normal Bronze ticket, awarded for winning the tournament match, and the other was a Silver Ticket for winning the entire sports festival.

[ColorS]

|Common Item|

Fairy Tail - A small book-like magic item that allows the holder to change the color scheme of their clothing by sliding their finger over its surface.

This would make a great gift for Sasha. I could already see her harassing everyone to let her color their clothes as I took the book from my system space and put it in my bag. Now for the Silver ticket!

[Corpus Weapon]

|Uncommon Ability|

Allows you to imbue whatever weapon you are holding or your limbs with necrotic energy. This necrotic energy amplifies the power behind your attacks and makes them harder to heal while hurting the vitality of the enemy directly. Against living targets, it deals extra damage by exhausting their vitality. You can also channel the necrotic energy around your weapon or fist and throw it out as a projectile.

I could use this against All For One. . .

Anyway. I braced as Sasha slammed into me as usual, and I spun her around once before letting go. She flew towards Momo, gleefully teasing the poor girl as I hurried to my seat. "Hey Sasha, I got you something!" I took out the book and handed it to her. She looked puzzled until I used it to change the color of my tie.

Her eyes went wide with wonder as she snatched it and bolted over to Mina to start experimenting. "What did you give her?" Momo asked as colors started flying across the room. "Something I may have to pry away from her," I said with a grin as she gave Sasha a wary look.

"Alright, get settled down," Aizawa grumbled as he entered the classroom. A few utility bots followed him in with several mountains worth of paper. "What's all that?" Mina asked as Aizawa gave her a scathing look, "Keep quiet, and I'll tell you."

The bots then divided the paper amongst themselves before passing it out amongst us as Aizawa explained. "Normally, students in the Hero course have to wait until their second year to apply for an internship. Nezu changed this because of the great showing and overwhelming amount of requests this year.

As you can see, some people got more offers than others," he gestured to the huge stacks of papers on mine, Shoto's, and Bakugo's desks. "That doesn't mean that you won't get to intern with a Hero if you didn't get an offer. U.A has a list of Heroes who are willing to work with any prospective hero.

Do not take this lightly. As of now, you've stepped onto the world stage, and people will start to recognize you, both for better and for worse. The hero you intern with will determine the skills you bring to the table when you graduate, so choose wisely."

After stowing the stack of paper before me, I spent the rest of the day wondering who I should choose. Just glancing at the stack let me pick out several heroes who'd be great.

Hawks was a good choice as he could teach me better aerial combat. He did come with the cost of being firmly on the HPSC's radar, which I'm positive I was already on.

Kamui Woods could prove interesting since he normally chose to restrain villains, something I have yet to really focus on with my flames. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure he starts dating Mt.Lady at some point, and I'd rather not be near that.

Mirko was another option. Despite being a fan favorite for obvious reasons, I liked her fighting style. Rush in and beat the shit out of any bad guy. I'm certain there was more nuance than that (Probably not), but Mirko would also be great in helping me get rid of the clutch that is the Ninja belt.

Yeah, it was awesome, but it didn't feel right to rely just on my items. I wanted to put in some real effort as well. And with how hands-on Mirko seemed to be, I'm sure she'd be a great teacher.

The last hero that really stuck out to me was Ryukyu. Just the idea of fighting alongside a real dragon was pretty cool. Plus, it would be good practice for when things hit the fan, and Gigantomachia was put into play.

"So, I noticed you two had quite a lot of offers. Did any of them interest you?" Momo asked politely as we ate lunch. Shoto didn't say anything, so I went first. "A few did catch my eye. I have managed to narrow it down to three options: Hawks, Mirko, and Ryukyu." Momo nodded as Sasha piped up.

"I'm going to go with the Wild Wild Pussycats! They're sooo cute, and I might die when I see them in person." She said dramatically as she threw her arms around me. On instinct, I placed a hand over my food to guard it as she tried to be sneaky.

"I've been considering going with Uwabami; she seems to be quite popular," Momo said as Sasha, and I froze; even Shoto stopped eating to give Momo a weird look. "Choose someone else. Literally anyone." I said plainly as she looked confused.

"Why? What's wrong with Uwabami?" She asked. "How many times have you seen her on the news for saving someone, and not for a commercial?" She thought for a moment, then shook her head, "That's the problem." Sasha said before ranting about how women like Uwabami are the reason that women are objectified and not taken as seriously as male heroes.

"Very well then, I won't go with her." She said, finally, as Sasha and I gave her a few options that were much better than her first pick. Shoto finally spoke up as well, simply saying that he would be going to his father's agency before returning to his food.

The rest of the day passed by without incident. Sasha teased me the entire time, Bakugo shot Izuku a dirty look every five seconds, and Momo and I had made eye contact several times. Concerning.

As the day wound down, Sasha and I made our way down to the Support Course; it wasn't difficult to find. After the instructor, Powerloader, let us in, it was very obvious which workstation belonged to Mei.

"Hey beta testers! Come to help test out more babies?" Mei barely glanced at us as she fiddled with something on her workbench. "Not today, sorry. I actually brought something that I think you'd find interesting." I pulled the Power Fist from my bag.

Her eyes nearly doubled in size, quite alarming, I might add, at the sight of the Power Fist. She took it carefully before shooing us away as she tore it into pieces. "Where did you find that thing?" Sasha asked, and I tilted my head side-to-side, "I found it."

She didn't believe me, but thankfully didn't press the issue as we walked together until the train station, where we separated. By the time I got back to the Todoroki's, night had fallen and I found Fuyumi up with a plate of food.

"You didn't have to stay up, really." I felt bad that Fuyumi had stayed up. She had a job as a school teacher, and she needed to save her energy for the children, not on making sure I was alive. "I don't mind," She smiled as I ate, "I just wanted to make sure you and Shoto ate at least once today."

I thanked her once more and insisted on washing my plate before turning in to bed. Sasha seemed to be getting ready to go with the Pussycats, so after making up my mind on who I wanted to go with, I took a quick shower and went to sleep.
