Ah, crap. Felicia's phone rang ominously. The caller ID we were both staring at was just that scary. Taking her phone, I had only one option. It would be so unattractive if I didn't handle this for her.
"Good morning, Miss Hardy."
"Good morning. Care to explain why I just got a call from the school about my daughter being absent?"
"To put it plainly, we are on a little date."
"And to put it in more detail?"
"I'm running important errands, and she wanted to come along. Plus, with how long our hands have been together, I'm kind of afraid we can't separate…"
"Wow. Just wow, kid."
I moved quickly. I snapped a picture of Felicia's adorable, embarrassed face and sent it to her mom.
"Hehehe~, alright, I forgive you!"
"Phew~ glad my quick thinking saved me."
"Just make sure this is a one-time thing unless you two go on doing that stuff."
"Uh???"
The call disconnected.
'What did she mean by that?'
There was no way she meant that. It felt more like she was talking about our hero stuff, but the way she phrased it was so weird.
"W-What did she say? Am I done for?"
"Nope. You can thank me for sparing you."
"Really? My butt is safe from her clutches?!"
"Hers, maybe."
I teased, just testing the waters. However, how she reacted to my-
"So it's not safe from yours?"
-She definitely wanted me. 1.3 seconds, I'm in.
I pulled her lightly with our locked hands, catching her waist with my other hand, and some quick footwork. Our eyes locked, completely disregarding the people passing by.
"I'd much rather it this way."
"Pervert~"
"You really are mysterious." I shook my head, amused.
"How?"
"You get embarrassed at other things but not this."
"That's because this is this and that is that."
"Hahahaha~ fair enough."
"Now, hug~!" She hugged me eagerly, my chin resting on top of her head and my hands on her waist. I never thought I would ever see myself in such a fast-moving relationship. I knew they existed, but I didn't think I would ever find compatibility with someone like this.
We hugged each other in silence. Her warmth healed me in places that I didn't even know needed it. It felt weird getting better in real time, the haunting thoughts from yesterday clinging onto my mind more heavily than I realized.
"Julius."
"Yeah?"
"I know this may be a little sudden, but do you want to try going out?"
My body shook a bit. Felicia's words were definitely not what I was expecting.
"I would love to." I really enjoyed her presence. She was breathtakingly beautiful. She was adorable and had every side that you would expect in a girl.
Her hug deepened.
"I have powers too."
"What kind?"
"I got bit by a spider… the powers I got from it were actually how I discovered Gwen and Peter were the same as me."
Now this was uncharted territory because I didn't even know her original character like that. All I knew was that her original self was a thief. Guess it was my fault for only focusing on the cinematic universe and not the comics.
"I would assume you all got bitten and activated the X-gene within you."
"I'm not really sure about that, but I know that I have powers."
"Do you know what you can do?"
"Of course, I've been practicing every night since then."
"Okay, want to head back and show me at the hideout?"
She stepped back a bit, our eyes meeting with a different feeling between us.
"Is it a spar?"
"It can be."
"You're going to hold back, aren't you?"
"Obviously. If I went all out, I'd actually cripple you or even worse, kill you."
"Ouch. If you weren't so hot, I would have taken that as an insult."
We found a bench and continued enjoying each other's company. Her head rested on my shoulder as we watched the many people of New York walk by. Some with business to handle, some just touring, and some sleeping nearby but respectfully staying out of the city's way.
"Damn it, Johnny!"
"Come on, sis!"
"J-Just be quiet about it!"
"What?! You know he's not going to step up! You have to do it yourself!"
"I'm fine with waiting, now stop being annoying!"
Felicia and I burst into laughter. Our eyes moved towards the loud duo, our laughter stopping when we realized who it was.
'Johnny and Susan Storm.'
Susan Storm stood aggravated with her brother. Her striking beauty made her stand out enough. Johnny doing whatever he did didn't help her. Her blue eyes looked like she wanted to beat him badly. I wouldn't be surprised if she grabbed his sun-kissed-looking blonde hair and dragged him somewhere to do it. Maybe the cocky smirk on his face would be wiped off after that.
They heard our laughter as their eyes looked over. We weren't that far from each other, and they were superpowered people. There was no way they couldn't hear us.
"Johnny, they are just kids, don't-!?"
"Something funny, brats?!"
He approached with too much heat in his damn head. I didn't really have the guts to try and fight him or make an enemy of the Fantastic Four, but Felicia was clearly frightened. My energy flared, my Six Eyes activating in full blast, staring Johnny down.
"Cool down or I'll make you."
Johnny faltered briefly with shock. Just enough time for Susan to come and stop him. She had a similar expression of disbelief as she looked at me.
"Forgive this idiot."
"He didn't do anything; I'm just protecting my girlfriend." I cut the energy off and returned my Six Eyes to normal. I wasn't like Satoru yet, where I could keep them on constantly. I knew how, but I needed more practice with everything to put it into practice.
'Holy shit, that was nerve-racking!'
I'd rather be dealing with a villain right now than the actual Fantastic Four.
"Are you two mutants by chance?"
"I am. She isn't."
Felicia's hand tightened.
"He's lying. We both are."
"Hey!" I tried to protect her identity, and she just blew it! She just hugged me, hiding her face from Susan and Johnny. There must've been a reason, but all I could do was find out later.
"Hehe. Seems your girlfriend doesn't want you to bear the burden alone."
"Yes."
"Since you two are mutants, would you like to come to the tower? Allow me to make it up for this idiot's flare-up."
"What do you want to do?" I asked the seductively cute beauty in my arms. I wanted to go farm KP. However, if she didn't want to, I would gladly save it for another day.
