Chapter 16 - I don't belong here [3]

After I've learned that I can't decipher the books of this world.

I put the book in it's respective shelf and walks away disheartened as I left the section

A fuck. I'm doomed.

These thoughts ran through my head as they began to take a toll on my chances of survival.

Not to mention the importance it had on the game itself

But the girl was paying attention to him.

"Are you leaving?"

She asked curiously and with a hint of relieve as she was not wanting to be bothered.

"Yea."

She was silent as he replied to her.

"Well good!"

She said clapping her hands together happily.

I wonder if she really wanted me to leave that badly?

In the end, I left the labyrinth.

The next day the battle test for the archlight academy had begun, requiring all participants to find a partner to test their combat skills and magic.

Outside of the academy there was a forest, a sacred area for the spirit taming, but it was used as the training grounds for students with the large amount of mana and the self-regenerating soil that it possessed.

The students gathered in the center as they listened to the professors.

"Now now, prepare to have your combat skills and magic assessed."

"The rules were simple, a one on one fight was to determine one's skills and magic, and as long as you did not kill your partner there were no restrictions regarding spells."

Her voice silenced the murmuring students.

"Now, if I find any of you using an artifact in my class.."

"You will be punished."

Ren, one of the sevent geniuses of magic.

She was originally supposed to be the supporting character for the protagonists.

It made sense seeing as the main characters of this world were present here.

But..

I was hoping for a lower level partner to spar with.

But how the fuck

Did I get paired up with the main character?!

Verdric...he was one of the protagonists infact he could be considered the strongest among them!

Just recalling his capabilities gave me chills down my spine.

"You okay partner?"

Verdric asked as his grin was bigger than the sun itself, making the other girls in the class swoon.

I guess he was pretty popular with the ladies, not surprising considering he had a harem.

In other words, if I'm going to spar against him I might as well give it my all, seeing as I had no idea how strong he was currently.

Verdric moved as his golden locks blew majestically across the wind as he grabbed the sword planted in the ground.

"Let's do our best." ;

"Uh right.." Ren stomped her foot to the ground, forming a crater on the soft soil

"All right listen up, the first pairing will be.." She announced as she lifted a slip of paper with names written on it "Ronan and verdric!"

Of course it would be us, considering how much sense did it make?! Because he was a genius after all!

The students turned their gazes to me

"Who's that?"

They asked in confusion.

"He's probably some lowly student.." one said

"He'll be dead for sure.." Another added

"Of course he will, he's fighting against Verdric himself!"

They whispered as I stepped onto the arena.

"...Alright! Are you two ready?

"Yea-"

Before I could finish my response, verdic suddenly appeared before me in a blur of motion, making me stumble back in surprise.

"?! What the-!" Before I could react, the tip of his blade nearly grazed my face.

Are you kidding me, this is insane!
