Adeline placed her warm hand on Gideon's cheek, watching him as he slept peacefully beside her. She recalled the terrifying incident from earlier in the day, the suffocating fear of being completely helpless still causing a chill to run down her spine.
"I will protect you. I have to," she murmured under her breath, a fierce determination flashing through her eyes.
Realizing that sleep would not come tonight, she carefully slid out from under the covers and quietly walked out of the bedroom. The entire villa was draped in heavy darkness, save for the dim, amber lamps glowing faintly in a few corners of the corridors.
Seeking fresh air, she stepped out into the serene garden, finding a plush outdoor couch to rest on. She curled her legs up and pulled out her phone. Her fingers quickly typed a name into the search bar, to know the contact of Morticia, the High Priestess who had initially revealed that her wolf was merely trapped, and that she was never truly wolfless.
