Pit-a-pat.
My heart raced. The ghost stories from my childhood flashed through my mind.
‘Are there ghosts in this world too?’
Come to think of it, the chances of ghosts existing here seemed high. After all, there were black magic and even devils in this place.
Knock, knock, knock––
"Whew."
The knocking sound came again. I clenched my fists and moved forward, also summoning "Sylpheed" as a powerful backup.
‘Whether it's a ghost or some other intruder outside... with Sylpheed, I can at least protect myself.’
I tiptoed and finally arrived at the window. Then, I heard a voice from outside.
"Hey, is anyone in there?"
It was a deep, thick voice that sounded like a beast growling.
‘Eh?’
Listening closely, the voice sounded quite different from the ghostly one I imagined. In fact, it seemed oddly familiar.
I briskly pulled the curtains aside. Beyond the clear window, illuminated by the bright moonlight, was a face. I stared intently at it.
