Chapter 1 - chapter 1: I didn't kill her.

Kathie and ava where both walking down from the grocery store. They were the best friends everyone admired beautiful, elegant, and lively.

"Hmm . . I gave good news" Kathie said smiling to her phone.

"Let me guess . . its Cole again" I said rolling my eyes.

"He said he's coming today" she said grinning foolishly.

"Wow . . the so called boyfriend you've never seen is coming" I said rolling my eyes.

"Oh stop it . . I'm sure you will like him when you meet him" she said excitedly.

"I need to go get ready, I want to look my best for our first meeting" she said pulling me to their mansion.

Unlike Kathie's family, I am born into a poor family. My dad abandoned my mom weeks after my birth. My mom never acknowledged me as her daughter, treating me no less than an house help.

My phone buzzed as we went towards Kathie's house. ". Oh dear . . I think I have to go my mom just texted she said rolling should be home before 7PM which is ten minutes away" I said.

"What is it this time?" she frowned.

"Well I don't know but I have to go"I patted her shoulder.

"But I won't be able to go meet him without you, I'll be too nervous" she frowned.

"Wait I'm calling him" she dialed his number and after a short conversation, hung up" she said smiling.

"Well, his ten minutes away and he's coming by the road leading to your house so let's get going.

I smiled and we both went through the road leading to my small thatched house.

We got to a stop at the road close to the river, it was quite and only the sounds of the tall trees could be heard. Only few cars zoomed passed with high speed.

" hmm . . Kathie, are you sure about this. I'm having a bad feeling about this " kethie was standing behind me as I walked closer to the river.

"Hmm . . he said he's is a few minutes away" she said.

Suddenly, I saw a creature at my side, the sight was blurry but I was sure it wasn't human. Before I could say anything the creature launched at Kathie, sending her to the ground unconscious, I wanted to run but I couldn't leave my friend.

Since the environment was very dark I wasn't seeing clearly but I was sure something was standing next to Kathie.

I braced myself and screamed the loudest I had ever. Suddenly followed my scream, I felt electrified like there was a sudden force that awakened in me.

I ran up to Kathie who was lying unconscious. There were visible marks of claws on her face.

"Kathie . . Kathie wake up" I tapped her face and quickly realized something. My hand had grown larger with furs and sharp nails.

I almost fainted at the sight of my hand.

"Hey, don't move" the community heads were all standing in front of me along side . . my . . my mother?.

"She killed her, she killed her best friend, I saw it myself" my mother roared as torches were pointed at me.

"She . . she's a witch, she should be executed" the community head roared.

I felt like I was dreaming, even though mom was harsh, she was still my mother wasn't she, why'd she do this.

"No . . no I didn't kill her, I swear it wasn't me"

I tried to justify myself.

"Sieze her and bring her to the community square" the community head roared.

I struggle as I was being dragged to the village square.

I was hurt that instead of taking my best friend who was just attacked to a doctor, I was being accused of killing her.

I felt alone as all in the village shouted, "burn the witch, burn the witch . ."

I was tied to a tree, the oldest tree in the entire community.

The crowd was uncontrollable, some cursing, some spitting, some shouting.

As my eyes darted among the crowd I saw something. No not something someone, someone standing wearing a black hoddy over his face. I couldn't see his face but I could see the eyes, they were glowing red, just like that of the creature I saw earlier. The person was looking at me, standing so still like he wasn't part of the commotion.

Everything was happening too fast for me to procees, Kathie's father stepped closer and poured fuel on me but I remained unmoved still staring at the creature, I wasn't shock nor was I scared, I felt a strange connection with the creature.

The village head marched forward with a torch, 'so this was how my story would end, being wrongly accused of a crime I didn't commit'.

Seconds before the torch touched me, the person I had been staring at vanished and I felt a strong pull.

I was pulled by a creature whose face I couldn't see in lighting speed into the deep dark forest.

The whole community was shock, they had seen me being pulled away but the weren't able to catch the direction I was taken to.

They all began strange whispers, the community headed made announcement concerning witches and one by one the crowd dismissed.

I woke up in the night, I was alone in this dark scary forest.

The sounds of crickets filled the air. At this point I didn't know what to do, I reaked of fuel which was very gross.

I shivered in fright as my eyes darted round the forest. Suddenly I saw something, the same red eyes, the ones I saw when Kathie was attacked, the ones i saw when i was about to be burnt.

"Who are you?" I whispered then the eyes disappeared.

As I got up an arrow swooped passed my ear.

I dunked burying myface in between my laps. 'This was it, I was destined to due today '.

"Who, who is it" a deep voice called out as I raised my head.

"Hey . . what are you doing in the forest at this time of the night" the middle aged man asked.

He stretched out hand and helped me up.

I was relieved. For a while I had thought that I would die in this forest.

The old man took me to his house where there were lots of mysteries waiting for me to uncover.
