"You are not my father!"
The moment Fenris finished speaking, Blackheart immediately reacted.
He shot backward dozens of meters, staring at Fenris from afar. "My father only ever thinks about how to screw me over and get me killed. Who the hell are you?"
Aside from Mephisto, how could anyone in this world possess such pure power of hell?
The more Blackheart thought about it, the further his thoughts spiraled. When he looked at Fenris again, even his eyes held a trace of fear he himself had not noticed.
"Tch."
What a bizarre father-son relationship this demon had.
Fenris clicked his tongue lightly, glanced at Johnny lying on the ground, dazedly shaking his head, then shook his own head in resignation.
His foot shifted. His palm wrapped in a faint black glow, and his entire body flashed through the air, crashing straight toward Blackheart.
"Don't worry about who I am. Since you delivered yourself to my door, you can stay."
The instant Blackheart saw the black light in Fenris's palm, a terror that had lain dormant in the depths of his soul flooded into his mind.
"Impossible!"
"Even my father can't do that. How can you use that power in the mortal world?"
That power, almost identical to Mephisto's, had once left an enormous shadow in Blackheart's heart. Seeing Fenris charging toward him, he did not hesitate in the slightest. He suddenly reached out and yanked Gressil, who had completely failed to react, in front of himself—the demon with the strongest defensive ability.
"Blackheart, what are you doing?"
Gressil never imagined that Blackheart, who had been calling him brother one moment ago, would throw him into Fenris's hands the next.
By the time he reacted, all he saw was a streak of black light flash before his eyes. A pair of long, well-defined hands pressed down on the top of his head.
Black light shrouded his entire body like fog. Gressil let out a miserable scream. His body, formed from sand and solid rock, completely lost all sensation, then collapsed limply to the ground and shattered across it.
"The power of the Lord of Hell!"
Even in Hell, elemental demons were considered quite powerful. Yet after seeing Gressil's body disintegrate in an instant, executed so cleanly on the spot, Wallow and Abigor were both scared out of their wits.
Neither hesitated for even a moment. One sprang in place, turned into a puddle of water, and seeped into the ground beside the road, vanishing from sight. The other simply disappeared into the air.
As for Blackheart, he had already fled far away at the first possible moment.
Fenris spread out his senses. Three sinister auras were as obvious to him as ghostly flames in the dark. They had clearly been scared witless by the display just now, and at this moment, they were practically using every last ounce of strength they had to flee from the area.
"Fenris, I'll go after them!"
Seeing that Fenris did not seem inclined to give chase, Johnny, who had been lying listlessly on the ground, instantly found new strength. Amid the roar of an engine, a Harley came speeding in from afar on its own.
Johnny suddenly flipped onto the bike. The instant he sat down, man and machine abruptly transformed. Hellfire surged up around them, and not a trace remained of his earlier wilted state.
"I'll be back soon!"
Johnny's hoarse roar drifted over on the wind.
Before he even finished speaking, he had already dragged a long trail of fire behind him and disappeared at the end of the road. Listening to the sonic boom coming from far away, Fenris shook the remaining sand from his hand in disdain, clicking his tongue in wonder.
As expected of hellfire. That recovery ability made no sense at all.
"Fenris, you can't keep using that power so recklessly."
Emma climbed down from the trailer and looked at Fenris with a frown. The wounds on his body, which had split open who knew how many times, were deep enough to reveal bone. They ran through him from top to bottom, nearly tearing his entire body apart.
Feeling the faint, intense pain coming from his body, Fenris waved a hand without changing expression. "It's just a little pain."
He had long since grown used to this level of suffering.
"Just a little pain?"
The corner of Emma's eye twitched.
"Leave it. Get in the truck."
Fenris did not want to say more. After yawning, he turned and walked toward the truck.
Then a sound like an exploding thunderclap suddenly came from the low, dark clouds nearby, making Fenris's steps come to an abrupt halt.
"What is it?"
Emma immediately noticed something strange about Fenris.
Fenris did not answer. A mysterious sensation suddenly rose from the depths of his heart. Following the direction of that feeling, he abruptly turned his head.
The dark clouds there were pressing lower and lower. Above the cloud layer, a brilliant, colorful halo suddenly began to flicker.
Fenris narrowed his eyes. He sensed a force powerful enough to easily destroy the entire planet suddenly arrive from the distant stars, gathering above Earth in an extremely short span of time.
The next moment, that energy descended. But it only remained for a brief instant before completely vanishing, as though it had never appeared at all.
"The Bifrost?"
Although he had never seen it with his own eyes before, the sight was far too extraordinary. Fenris's eyes shifted, and it was easy for him to think of the Bifrost.
Bzz—
In that brief instant, within the boundless darkness deep inside Fenris's consciousness, a thick ancient book suddenly gave a long-lost tremor.
But as the energy disappeared, the tremor vanished as well. If Fenris had not clearly caught that split-second change, he might truly have overlooked it by instinct.
"Another Titan?"
Fenris's heart suddenly gave a violent beat. He abruptly raised his head and looked at the sky.
He just did not know whether that sensation had come from the Bifrost itself, or from the other end of it.
At the same time, not far from Fenris, the vortex formed by cloud and mist dispersed. The rainbow light gradually dimmed, and a strange pattern appeared on the ground out of thin air.
"Darcy, stop the car!"
Jane Foster, who had been chasing the abnormal signal the entire way, held an instrument in her hands. Seeing the intense signal fluctuations displayed on the screen, excitement instantly filled her face.
Bang!
Just as Jane eagerly got out of the car and prepared to approach it for research, a huge impact suddenly rang out from the direction of the hood.
A slightly pained groan followed. Jane watched helplessly as a tall, muscular blond man in simple clothes appeared out of nowhere, then slammed straight into the hood of the car.
"God, where did you come from? Darcy, help him!"
The sudden accident threw Jane into panic. She crossed the distance in a few quick strides and came to the man's side.
Yet despite taking such a heavy hit, the man stood back up on his own in an extremely short amount of time.
"My hammer!"
"My hammer!"
"Heimdall, I know you can hear me! Open the Bifrost!"
Thor looked at the unfamiliar place around him and spread his arms, waving them continuously toward the sky. However, all that answered him was silence.
Jane stared wide-eyed at Thor, who looked as though he had lost his mind, and for a moment, she did not dare approach.
After a short while, the man finally seemed to recover his senses. He carefully surveyed his surroundings, then his nose suddenly twitched.
"Hm? Where am I?"
A strange scent suddenly reached his nose. Thor's previously unstable mind quickly steadied, and his eyes became incomparably sharp.
He abruptly turned his head and looked toward the road not far away. There, a heavy truck was quietly parked.
"The scent of an evil god..."
