Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Prop Card: Parasite

The others chimed in, echoing the short guy's words, "Logan is so smart, using this dumbass's name to fish for people. And we don't have to worry about retaliation, hahaha."

"No kidding, this Parasite prop card is fucking awesome. It can take over an account directly! If we get a few more beta players, won't we be invincible?"

The short guy spat at the remark. "The kid said he got it from a Diamond Treasure Chest. Fucking hell, why don't I ever have that kind of luck!"

...

Logan, sitting in the center, fiddled with the crude shotgun in his hands and sneered, "If all the beta players are dumbasses like this thing, it'll be way too easy for us to rule this train car."

The short guy immediately said fawningly, "That's because you're a strategist, Logan. If it were me, I'd never have thought of fishing like this, not in a million years. But it's so unfair. Why does a dumbass like him get to be a beta player? And he was lucky enough to get a broken prop like 'Parasite.'"

Listening to his lackeys' compliments, Logan waved his hand, but he couldn't hide the smile on his face. "No matter how broken it is, it still ended up benefiting me. It's all thanks to you finding this 'fat sheep.' With supplies and weapons, how could we not thrive? Stick with me from now on, and I guarantee you'll continue to live the good life!"

His words were naturally met with a round of enthusiastic cheers.

Logan was originally a gang boss. Before the game started, he and his underlings had just finished a turf war and were eating a late-night snack.

So, not only did he have an electric baton he'd specially acquired, but he'd also unconsciously brought along some grilled skewers and cold beer.

With weapons, underlings, and a ferocious look, Logan used his advantages to establish "authority" in the last car and began to harbor ambitions of forming a gang.

So, before entering the instance, he had his underlings hold hands, trying to land in the same location.

Surprisingly, it actually worked. Although they were still scattered, the farthest one was only about seven or eight kilometers away from him.

It was on his way to meet up with Logan that the short guy discovered the fat sheep, Miss Black Tights, and tricked him into coming to Logan.

No one expected that this man, who didn't seem too bright, not only had an entire storage space full of supplies but also a crude shotgun!

If he hadn't been too slow and gotten pinned down first, he probably could have run wild through the instance with that gun alone.

Lying on the ground, Miss Black Tights pleaded in a low voice, "Boss, please let me go… I already gave you my prop. You can have all my supplies too. Just let me go…"

He was now filled with regret. He had gotten cocky, revealing everything after a few compliments, and he never imagined the short guy was part of a gang.

Before Logan could speak, the short guy kicked him. "Are you trying to tell my boss, Logan, what to do? Logan has already taken over your space. It's not up to you whether you give it or not!"

But Logan patted the short guy's shoulder reassuringly. He put away his shotgun, squatted in front of the man, and smiled. "Leon Lynn, is it? Don't worry. You're a great contributor to our Azure Dragon Gang. Why would I kill you?

"You're so lucky, from now on you'll be in charge of digging up chests. As long as you can find me another Diamond Treasure Chest, you'll be my best brother. When I eat meat, you'll get to drink the soup."

Leon Lynn cursed Logan's shamelessness in his head. 'He's talking as if he's doing me a favor, when he's the one who stole everything from me!'

But on the outside, he was too timid to argue, and he certainly didn't dare tell Logan that he hadn't found the prop in a chest at all—he had bought it from someone.

He was afraid that once he was no longer useful, Logan would kill him outright.

He had only been bragging to the short guy, wanting to see the envious and jealous look on his face. He never thought he'd brag his way into this mess.

Before the game started, Leon Lynn was just an ordinary office drone. Although he had beta access, he wasn't very confident and hadn't spent much real money on the game.

Plus, he had only drawn a 10% discount card, so he just stocked up on some basic supplies. He didn't upgrade his space or Life Value, and he only managed to get the gun at the very last minute.

After the game officially began, Leon Lynn, who had thought he was the chosen one, was already crashing and burning before he could even take off.

Logan was very satisfied with Leon Lynn's compliance. He gave a look to the side. "Take him to dig up chests."

He himself, however, started studying the prop card, which had already turned gray.

[Prop: Parasite: For 888 Life Value, you can parasitize a designated player for seven days (must know their real name; can only target a new player after the current one dies). During this period, you control the target's inventory slots and storage space, and can use their identity to chat and trade.]

The prop from the Diamond Treasure Chest was indeed badass.

Logan couldn't help but sigh. It was temporary and the cost wasn't small—if he hadn't "borrowed" 990 Life Value from Leon Lynn, he wouldn't have been able to bring himself to use this prop.

Still, it was worth it. Looking at the various supplies in the storage space, Logan smacked his lips in satisfaction.

Unfortunately, he only had five starting inventory slots and couldn't carry all the supplies from that storage space. Otherwise, there would have been no need to keep Leon Lynn alive.

But now, he had changed his mind.

'If Leon Lynn's luck really is that good, keeping him around to dig up chests isn't a bad idea. He can also serve as a scapegoat to draw aggro. Once I find a new beta player, I can drain them of their resources and then kill this one. It won't be too late.'

'It would be even better if I could find a way to take over his storage space completely. It's always safest to have things on your own person...'

Just as Logan was thinking about how to completely take over all of Leon Lynn's supplies, "Brute Force" sent a friend request to "Miss Black Tights."

Not long after Renee Kane sent the friend request, Miss Black Tights immediately accepted.

Miss Black Tights: "You're a beta player, too?"

Renee Kane replied in a naive and innocent tone, "Yep, and I've stocked up on so many things! But I'm a little scared being all by myself... Sis, you're looking to team up, right? Can I join? I have lots of food!"

Miss Black Tights immediately replied: "Of course you can! I was just thinking that distinguished beta players like us should stick together. I mean, think about it, we have so many supplies. What if those people from the lower-class cars team up to rob us?

"Only by uniting can we better protect ourselves and survive!"

Renee Kane raised an eyebrow. 'This Miss Black Tights is pretty smart, accurately grasping the mindset of some beta players.'

Although many beta players didn't lack supplies, going it alone was bound to make anyone feel insecure.

Especially if their own combat ability was on the weaker side. If they ran into robbers, even if they traded supplies for their life, they could very well end up a prisoner just like Leon Lynn.

Therefore, Renee Kane replied cooperatively, "Sis, you're so right! I don't even dare tell anyone I'm a beta player, I'm so scared I'll run into bad people and get robbed...

"So give me your coordinates and I'll come find you right now! I have lots of cold drinks, and an off-road vehicle, so I'm not afraid of the heat at all, hehe~"

Miss Black Tights replied instantly: "Perfect! I'll be waiting for you at coordinates 1471, 7401, 8888~"
