Even though Gavin Donovan hadn't encountered anyone else yet, Faye Yardley still reminded him, "If other people appear around your raft, you'd better not let them on. Even if it's someone you know, don't agree to requests like merging rafts and living together."
"Why, Boss?"
"People are unpredictable. You don't want your raft and all your things to be taken by someone else in the end, do you?"
Faye Yardley felt she was only saying this out of the camaraderie from having fought alongside him. 'If he doesn't want to listen, then so be it. Respecting another person's destiny is a basic courtesy, isn't it?'
Gavin Donovan chuckled. "Okay, Boss, I'll remember."
As for him always calling her "Boss," Faye Yardley couldn't be bothered to correct him anymore. 'As long as he's happy, it's fine.'
"Then I'll come find you again at seven, Boss. I won't take up any more of your time now."
