"Josie, take my seat. It'll be easier for you to get food."
Lucas Lockwood was on his feet before he'd even finished speaking, giving Josie no chance to refuse.
Josie instinctively tried to pull her hand back, but Felix Fields only gripped it tighter.
She couldn't for the life of her figure out what was wrong with Felix today. He hadn't touched a single bite of the feast on the table and was instead fixated on holding her hand.
Time passed in a strange stalemate.
Felix Fields didn't let go, and Lucas Lockwood didn't sit down. The air seemed to freeze.
The others at the table noticed the commotion and began to cast curious glances their way.
Unable to break free, Josie smiled at everyone. "Please, eat. Keep eating."
She moved her foot on top of Felix's and ground down lightly.
But the man beside her didn't even frown.
"Felix, why aren't you eating?" Rhona Cameron asked with concern.
It pained her to see all the good food left when everyone else was almost finished.
