The thought of this possibility made Phoebe Faulkner even angrier.
She threw herself onto the bed, furiously grabbing a pillow and pummeling it. 'Jace Lennox, Jace Lennox, you bastard! Go to hell, go to hell, go to hell!'
But just as she'd landed a couple of blows, a knock came from outside the door...
Hearing the knock, Phoebe Faulkner immediately stopped punching the pillow.
She turned to look at the door, her eyes blazing with fury, and shouted angrily, "What are you doing here? Did you come to laugh at me some more, to make a fool out of me? Or do you want me to pay you back for the cigar?"
As if hearing the exasperated voice from inside, the knocking at the door stopped.
