Upon seeing Jane Lynch, Phoebe gave her a polite nod.
Her second aunt had always treated her with formal courtesy. They weren't close, but Jane had never done anything to make her uncomfortable, so Phoebe treated her the same way in return.
Beside Jane Lynch stood Ruby Faulkner, her arms outstretched for an embrace.
The moment she saw Ruby, Phoebe quickened her pace and rushed over to her. "Big Sis."
"You silly girl, why didn't you tell me something so huge happened?" Ruby asked, stroking Phoebe's head.
Phoebe hugged Ruby without a word.
Ruby didn't press the matter. She took Phoebe's hand, led her into the house, and patted it reassuringly. "Well, it's all in the past now. From now on, if anything happens, just call me. No matter what, I'll always be here for you."
