Instead of answering Kenneth Faulkner, Ruby Faulkner sat at her vanity, removing her earrings as she warned him, "Dad, stop targeting Phoebe. Our family isn't struggling to make ends meet, so why are you still so fixated on those few shares she has?"
"Ruby, is that any way to talk to your father? You know as well as I do that your grandfather played favorites. Just look at what happened after he passed away. Look at how many shares he left Phoebe, and then look at what he left for you and Hailey. I'm doing all this for you!"
Hearing this, Ruby Faulkner's hand, which had been by her ear, paused. She turned around to face Kenneth Faulkner and said, "If there's something I want, I'll get it myself. I'll say it again: stop targeting Phoebe. Her side of the family has suffered enough. If you keep doing things you shouldn't, our family will be the one to pay the price in the end."
"Alright, alright. I'll listen to you."
