The eyes saw she was awake and immediately let out a howl. Instantly, the species Silas had described—creatures with human torsos and snake tails—appeared all around the ruins.
One of them was entirely pitch-black and slightly larger, appearing to be their leader. The monster that had just howled was reporting something to this pitch-black leader.
Their language was obscure and impossible to understand.
Willow watched the monsters' every move with caution. Suddenly, she saw the pitch-black leader nod, and the other monsters all scattered and left.
Willow grew even more guarded.
A short while later, the monsters that had left returned one by one, but this time, they were carrying all sorts of melons and fruits.
'Melons and fruits?'
Willow watched, wide-eyed, as the monsters piled the fruit into a small mountain in front of her. There were fruits she recognized and others she had never seen before.
