The main door closed. Leo Morgan led Laura Thorne into the house, and she was still sobbing.
Leo Morgan had her sit down on the sofa. Just as he was about to get up and walk away, Laura Thorne suddenly reached out and grabbed his sleeve.
She looked up at him, her eyes misty with tears, a picture of pitiable grief. "I'll do anything you say from now on. Just let Ava go, okay?"
Leo Morgan looked down at her and once again reached out to brush the tears from her eyes. He sighed softly. "She's your daughter. How could I possibly harm her? How can you think of me that way?"
It was as if Laura Thorne didn't hear a word he said, continuing to plead desperately. "Please, let her go. She's innocent. She shouldn't be dragged into all of this... Let her go, please?"
