Naomi Sawyer hadn't expected Mason Crawford to ask her that. She certainly hadn't expected that one question would make him smile at her.
Ever since she'd gotten into his car outside a bar, she had become his woman.
More than a month had passed, and this was the fifth time she had seen him.
They always met in a hotel room, and never for more than two hours.
She had never seen him smile before.
But his smile right now made her uneasy.
She knew he was angry today. She could tell from how he'd been in bed.
Now that this sensitive topic had come up, she suddenly realized she had crossed a line. After a long silence, she finally answered in a low voice—
"If it were me, I wouldn't do anything to make you angry…"
Hearing this, Mason Crawford's finger, which had been tracing the corner of her eye, paused for a moment.
He stared at her for a long moment before finally pulling his hand away. He got dressed and left without a backward glance.
