Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: The Pillar of Ash

The center of the Island was a dead zone. No bone-trees, no red clay—only a vast, circular plain of grey ash that never settled. In the middle stood the System Anchor, a mile-high needle of pulsing gold geometry that hummed with the power of a thousand harvested worlds.

[LOCATION: THE VOID-CORE (SYSTEM ANCHOR)]

[ATMOSPHERE: ABSOLUTE ZERO MANA (SYSTEM LOCK)]

"Sarge, my Iron skin is... it's flaking off," Vance grunted. The Anchor was suppressed all "Unauthorized" mana. Only the System's own energy functioned here.

"Stay close to me," Kane commanded. His Midnight Plate flickered. The God-Feeder Manual was growling in his spine, its violet light the only thing pushing back the Anchor's suppression field. "It doesn't recognize my energy. It can't shut me down."

"Movement! Three o'clock!" Sully shouted, her Void-Sight cutting through the ash-storm.

Four figures emerged from the grey haze. They wore modern tactical gear, but it was reinforced with Rank-5 Golden Plate. Their faces were hidden by polarized visors, but their shoulders bore a patch that made Kane's blood run cold: ALPHA-1.

[TARGET: THE FALLEN VANGUARD (ALPHA-1)]

[RANK: 5 - MIDDLE STAGE (SLAYER-TIER)]

[STATUS: SYSTEM-ENFORCERS]

"Turn back, Alpha-6," the lead Ranger said. His voice was a flat, synthesized drone. He held a high-frequency blade that hummed with the same gold light as the Anchor. "The Cycle is necessary. Without the Harvest, Earth would have been erased eons ago. We are the price of your world's safety."

"You're a battery in a suit," Kane spat, the Twin Fangs igniting with white celestial flame. "You gave up your humanity for a longer leash."

"We gave it up for Duty," the Alpha-1 Lead replied.

He didn't signal. He simply vanished.

The Clash of Two Eras

The collision was a tectonic event. The Gold Blade met the Obsidian Axe, sending a shockwave that cleared the ash for a mile.

Kane's Rank 3 Early Stage power was technically lower, but the God-Feeder was an apex predator. Every time their blades met, Kane's Soul-Siphon bit into the Alpha-1 Lead's golden armor, stealing the System's own energy to fuel his strikes.

"Vance! Take the Heavy! Sully, Doc, suppress the Marksman!" Kane roared.

Vance roared, his iron fists meeting the Alpha-1 Juggernaut's shield. It was a battle of pure mass—the sound of a hammer hitting an anvil over and over.

Sully engaged the Alpha-1 Sniper. It was a ghost-war in the ash, arrows of sonic-void meeting bolts of gold light. Doc was the anchor, her Plague-Aura now reversed into a Life-Well, healing the squad's flaking skin even as the Anchor tried to dissolve them.

"You're fast, boy," the Alpha-1 Lead hissed, his visor cracking under the pressure of Kane's 140 Strength. "But you're Rank 3. You can't sustain this!"

"I don't need to sustain it," Kane growled. The silver-amber in his eyes turned to a terrifying, absolute black. "I just need to eat it."

[SKILL ACTIVATED: VOID-CONSUMPTION]

Kane didn't swing his axe. He grabbed the Alpha-1 Lead's gold blade with his bare hand. The celestial flame on his glove traveled up the sword, turning the gold to black ash.

"What... what are you doing?" the Lead stuttered, his Rank-5 power draining like water from a cracked jar.

"I'm ending your Shift," Kane said.

He drove the Twin Fangs through the Lead's chest-plate. The Anchor behind them let out a mechanical scream as its primary defender was converted into raw, violet-black fuel for Kane's evolution.

[RANK-5 ENFORCER HARVESTED]

[RANK 3 (EARLY) \rightarrow RANK 3 (PEAK STAGE)]

[EVOLUTION THRESHOLD: 95%]

The remaining Alpha-1 members froze as their leader dissolved into mist. The connection to the Anchor flickered.

"The Anchor is vulnerable!" Sully screamed. "Sarge, hit it now!"

Kane looked at the mile-high needle of gold. He didn't just want to break it. He wanted to take it.

He lunged toward the base of the Anchor, his Midnight Plate glowing with the stolen gold of the Fallen Rangers. He slammed both axes into the crystalline heart of the machine.

[ASCENSION GATES OPENING...]

The 1st Realm—the bone-beaches, the Red Lands, the Plague-Fens—began to pixelate and tear. The Sky Realm was no longer a myth; it was falling toward them.

"Vance! Doc! Sully! Hold on to me!" Kane shouted as the world turned into a white-hot vortex of collapsing data and ancient mana.
