Chapter 16 - 16

My Sister Never Said She Was a Creepy Tale

"Yue Yiyue! Wake up quickly, don't fall asleep—" "Yue Yiyue, don't scare me!"

Who? Fell asleep? Yue Yiyue was puzzled. She wasn't sleeping. She looked around vaguely. She looked down at herself, standing perfectly fine—and then she saw Gu Nanqiu run over desperately and pass through her body. It was then she realized something was wrong.

She looked down and saw herself standing next to her own body, while Gu Nanqiu was frantically pressing the philtrum (acupoint) on her physical body. Am I dead? Yue Yiyue was utterly confused. I'm dead just like that? Isn't that too careless?

Before she could process what was happening, she saw another person enter the classroom. It was Wang Xiaoyan, whom she hadn't seen for days. She was still wearing the clothes from the script-killing game, not the school uniform. She must have arrived recently and hadn't gone to the dorm yet. She stood just inside the doorway, her face pale, with a few bluish bruises on her hand that looked freshly grown. Most noticeably, there was a distinct ligature mark around her neck.

As if sensing Yue Yiyue's confusion, Wang Xiaoyan stiffly raised a finger and pointed to another cabinet: "Protect Gu Nanqiu. You will, won't you?" "Zhao Heyi truly deserves to die, and it serves him right that he died first. Zhang Yang's next target is Fan…" "No, I can't say it." Wang Xiaoyan tilted her head. She looked at Yiyue: "Alright, we can't let Nanqiu wait anxiously, and we can't let Nanqiu go hungry. You should go back."

As soon as she finished speaking, a strong gravitational pull made Yue Yiyue feel like she was falling from a great height. Then, she felt a slight discomfort in her philtrum. She opened her eyes hazily, feeling some moisture on her face. Yue Yiyue raised her hand and patted the person in front of her, who was crying torrentially, her nose red. She said weakly: "Wait, let me recover. After I recover and grab something, we'll go eat…"

After lying on the floor for another minute, Yiyue fully recovered: "I'm fine. It's just that Wang Xiaoyan used a special method to tell me something." It was just too simple and crude; she couldn't quite handle it.

She got up and walked toward the cabinet. An Identity Transformation Card lay quietly there. Yue Yiyue picked the item up: "Nanqiu." She swallowed, unsure how to deliver this bad news. Should she say they were this close to saving Wang Xiaoyan? Or should she say that Zhang Yang killed Wang Xiaoyan, and the next target… It was easy to guess that Fan was definitely Fan Ning.

Why would she do this? Is it just to prevent Gu Nanqiu from going to university? Didn't they not want to attend the same university as Gu Nanqiu? Was it really that difficult to get into this school? She checked the admission score line for C University and the high school exam score of this body. Both were lower than the scores in her original world. The problems she had been doing for the past few days were also generally not very difficult.

Zhang Yang was too abstract. Gu Nanqiu was truly unlucky to be liked by such a person. Thinking this, Yue Yiyue's eyes held extra compassion as she looked at Gu Nanqiu. She was determined to protect Gu Nanqiu and ensure she had a normal romantic life later. This Zhang Yang was unacceptable, truly unacceptable.

"Nanqiu, although this might upset you, Zhang Yang has a problem. Wang Xiaoyan was probably killed by her." Yiyue pursed her lips: "She and Zhao Heyi have the same goal." "They want you to stay here and keep them company forever."

When they arrived at the cafeteria, there was still plenty of time to eat, but most of the students had already finished and left, leaving only a handful of people inside. Gu Nanqiu hadn't yet recovered from Yue Yiyue's words. Her nose was red, giving her a look of fragility from Yue Yiyue's perspective. Yue Yiyue just let Gu Nanqiu sit there while she took the meal card to get food. This was an intentional way to give Gu Nanqiu some time, and at least this time, she hadn't witnessed Wang Xiaoyan's death with her own eyes.

After this event, Yue Yiyue suddenly recalled parts of the original plot. Wang Xiaoyan was indeed killed by Zhang Yang, but not this early. Later, Zhang Yang lured her into the restroom, and then someone pushed her down from upstairs. It was this incident that made Gu Nanqiu realize something. But what exactly it was, Yue Yiyue couldn't remember. It was as if this world was deliberately playing a trick on her, allowing her to remember parts of the world's content but not the answer to getting out.

The blue clothes were now in Yue Yiyue's backpack. She didn't know what they were for. She needed to observe the situation further to figure out what was going on. She also needed to find out what exactly Zhang Yang was up to.

Returning after getting the food, she pushed the portion with more meat toward Gu Nanqiu. Gu Nanqiu managed a strained smile: "Yiyue, tell me, if I hadn't participated in this activity, would these things still have happened?" "I… Are they… being truthful?"

"Eat properly." Yue Yiyue broke the chopsticks apart and handed them over: "The few of them conspired together, a case of the pot calling the kettle black." This was somewhat true, as they all had a common goal, but two of them strayed from the path.

"What about you?" Gu Nanqiu looked at Yue Yiyue with a hint of confusion and an almost imperceptible plea in her eyes. In this state, Gu Nanqiu was excessively beautiful and fragile, possessing a kind of vulnerable, broken quality that tempted destruction.

"Zhang Yang sent me a message, but I didn't understand it." Yue Yiyue recalled the inexplicable text message, saying honestly that when she first arrived, her mind wasn't clear, so how could she have understood what Zhang Yang meant? It was only later, when she recalled the plot, that she figured it out. "So I just brushed it off randomly. Thinking about it now, they had been scheming for a long time. I should have warned you then." Yiyue's sincerity served as a reassurance for Gu Nanqiu. At least Yiyue was on her side. Gu Nanqiu's eyes were red. Suppressing the fear in her heart, she quickly shoveled a mouthful of rice.

A moment later, she whispered: "Tonight… I still want to sleep with you, I want to hug you…"

"Okay. However, driving Zhang Yang out of the dorm now isn't a good idea. If you need it, I can even carry you back." Yue Yiyue took a mouthful of food. Just sleeping together was a small matter, but the main issue now was Zhang Yang: "And it's rumored that her next target is Fan Ning. We need to be careful these next few days. Fan Ning can't be harmed; she is the key to us getting out."

Also, what exactly was the card in Zhang Yang's hand? She definitely lied about her identity. The original plot had been completely derailed. Thinking about how she didn't find Wang Xiaoyan's identity card in that room, she considered a possibility… It needed some time to verify.

Perhaps due to being frightened, Gu Nanqiu only ate a few bites at noon. Yue Yiyue, worried that Gu Nanqiu would be hungry in the afternoon, went to the small convenience store. When she entered this time, she saw that the shelf where the bread was usually displayed was empty, but the area next to it was piled high with instant noodles. From the moment she walked in, the store owner stared stiffly at Yue Yiyue. The gaze was very strange; anyone could tell it wasn't the look of someone guarding against a thief, but one of scrutiny, assessing whether something was up to standard. A few hoarse bird calls echoed from afar, seemingly warning of something…
