Chapter 15 - 15

My Sister Never Said She Was a Creepy Tale

Yue Yiyue didn't know if it was her imagination, but Gu Nanqiu emphasized the words get along well particularly strongly. Ever since Gu Nanqiu moved next to her, her deskmate had also been acting strange, constantly looking backward.

Recalling the inexplicably strange things her deskmate had said on the first day, she hesitated but still wrote a note and passed it over: "Excuse me, are you doing all this for Gu Nanqiu?"

When the deskmate saw the note, the expression on her face changed unpredictably. She seemed to be suppressing her emotions, trying not to show too much.

"Someone is just conducting an evaluation—"

The idea that the deskmate had turned against them to keep Gu Nanqiu here seemed incredible to Yue Yiyue, but if it was an evaluation… The deskmate knew everything that happened in the dorm, so she must have used some strange method. She couldn't hide, and some things couldn't be avoided, so she might as well face them openly. She needed to prepare for both possibilities.

She had to check the Art Studio at noon today to see if Wang Xiaoyan was hiding there. Although she felt like calling the police about every word this deskmate said, the information she had now was so scarce. No matter what, she had to go look.

Can I trust her? Yue Yiyue subconsciously rubbed her pen, contemplating how many preparations to make and what kind of situations she might encounter. Should I discuss it with Nanqiu first? But if she did that, the deskmate would surely know again.

If she didn't say anything and went alone, what if she couldn't come back?

Feeling a tap on her shoulder, Yue Yiyue recovered and turned to look at Gu Nanqiu behind her. A piece of paper was handed over; it was also light pink. It seems everyone really likes this color.

Yue Yiyue read the note: "I asked. The midterm exam is two weeks after the monthly exam. We need to speed up. The monthly exam is in ten days, so we only have about twenty days left."

Yue Yiyue picked up her pen: "Okay. Also, let's go to the Art Studio together at noon today. I got a new lead. I remember someone mentioned the 317 Art Studio before. Zhao Heyi or Wang Xiaoyan might be there."

She would explain the situation to Gu Nanqiu only after confirming things there. After all, this deskmate suddenly provided this information, which looked like a trap waiting for them to jump into. Yue Yiyue nervously glanced at the person next to her, confirming that her deskmate was only looking down at her book without any other reaction.

Yue Yiyue carefully folded the note and handed it back. She prayed in her heart that her deskmate was a good ghost. Regardless, she had already decided to make Nanqiu wait far away and run quickly if anything seemed wrong.

It wasn't lunchtime yet. Yue Yiyue was pulled by the hand by Gu Nanqiu as they walked toward the third floor. Along the way, people constantly cast curious glances, most of them falling on their clasped hands. This route was too attention-grabbing until Gu Nanqiu led her around two corners into a more secluded area, where the scrutinizing looks disappeared.

"The Art Studio is in a very remote and damp area, but it's a rare unlocked public classroom. It's quite possible they would come here," Yue Yiyue listened to Gu Nanqiu's explanation. "Right, and they also said before that they would come to this side."

The two walked single file to the silver-plated metal door.

"Nanqiu, wait for me over there. If anything happens, you run and don't look back." Yue Yiyue had planned it out. Her physical fitness was good; she could fight and run. If something went wrong, she wouldn't be completely helpless. Taking a sharp pair of scissors from her pocket, Yue Yiyue took on a "nothing to lose, just do it" demeanor.

Gu Nanqiu frowned: "Wouldn't that be bad? Besides, this place… shouldn't be as scary as you say?" Looking at the ordinary door, Gu Nanqiu walked to the side and opened the window, which allowed her to see the entire classroom's interior immediately.

"Hey—don't—" Yue Yiyue hadn't had time to speak when she saw Gu Nanqiu pointing inside.

"I guess it's fine?"

Following where Gu Nanqiu pointed, the words Yue Yiyue wanted to say caught in her throat. Large swaths of red, like paint, were splattered all over the classroom. Tables were overturned on the floor, clearly indicating a fierce struggle had taken place. On the ground were several pieces of paper with the huge words written on them: "She is a traitor."

Yue Yiyue stood still for a moment, processing the bloody scene before her. Gu Nanqiu sighed mournfully: "I never thought I'd feel okay seeing a scene like this one day." "I guess the shock of seeing Wang Yong that day was too great, so now, as long as I don't see a corpse, I feel I can handle it." That sounded a bit like a dark joke.

Yue Yiyue also sighed: "I'll go in and see if there's anything useful." "I don't think Wang Xiaoyan is here, but maybe she left something for us." It wasn't certain, but they had to check anyway. This place was too dirty to risk staining Gu Nanqiu's hands.

Yue Yiyue pushed the door open and walked inside. Her gaze swept over the scattered tables. It shouldn't be a ghost, as it looks like a fight between two people. The red on the ground wasn't blood, but it wasn't ink either. She couldn't analyze exactly what it was; it was already dry and didn't stick to the soles of her shoes.

Picking up the papers on the floor, every single one was densely covered with the word: "Traitor." It was as if someone had suffered a desperate betrayal. The person must have stayed here for a long time, or they wouldn't have written so many characters. There was another possibility: that the resentment was too deep and manifested as the words on the paper. Horror stories she had read before had plots like this, which she initially thought were fabricated by the author. But now, it seemed possible.

Yue Yiyue meticulously searched the contents, afraid of missing any key plot points. Finally, she retrieved a blue top from a cabinet in the back. Blue… She recalled the script-killing game mentioning that people wearing blue tops shouldn't appear here. Did someone accidentally wander in here and then change clothes?

She shook out the clothes, and two more pieces of paper dropped out. The first one read: "Zhang Yang, kill me. She also made a deal. She betrayed us." The second paper was very simple: "She will kill everyone for Gu Nanqiu, otherwise *^$&^&" The rest of the words were blurred.

These two sentences left Yue Yiyue in silence. She remembered the injuries on Zhang Yang yesterday. Since they were classmates, she hadn't pressed her about what exactly happened. The marks on the paper did look like they were caused by impact. Recalling those marks… Could it be that Wang Xiaoyan was fine yesterday? Did Zhang Yang meet Wang Xiaoyan last night and trick her over here…

The more she thought, the more a chill wrapped around Yue Yiyue's ankles, as if something wet was sliding past. But when she looked down, there was nothing on her feet.

"Yiyue, we need to go; it's time for lunch." Gu Nanqiu's voice transmitted, sounding somewhat ethereal in the empty classroom. For a moment, Yue Yiyue felt very far, very far from Gu Nanqiu.

"Yiyue—"
