Page 1_ the prophecy of the Shaman
Long ago, when the Eternal Blue Sky stretched unbroken across the steppes, a prophecy was spoken by the revered shaman of the Khatan clan. He declared that a child born beneath the crescent moon, with the cry of a falcon, would rise to unite scattered tribes and guard the sacred flame of the ancestors. That child was Altan, son of a humble herdsman. Though his family lived in obscurity, whispers of destiny followed him like the wind across the grasslands.
From his earliest years, Altan showed uncanny strength and courage. He tamed wild horses others feared, and his arrows struck true even in storms. Yet he was restless, sensing that his life was meant for more than tending herds. One night, as he gazed at the stars, a falcon descended, landing upon his shoulder. The elders murmured: "The prophecy awakens."

The tribes of the steppe were divided, plagued by raids from shadow-born creatures said to crawl from the Dark Mountain of Khar Zurkh. These beasts, half-wolf and half-demon, struck at night, stealing livestock and spreading terror. The Khatan clan suffered greatly, and the council of elders sought a champion. The shaman pointed to Altan: "The falcon has chosen. He must journey to Khar Zurkh and extinguish the darkness."
Altan accepted, though doubt gnawed at him. Armed with his father's bow, a sword forged from sky-iron, and the blessings of the Eternal Blue Sky, he set forth. His companions were few: Saran, a sharp-tongued warrior maiden, and Batu, a loyal friend whose laughter could chase away fear. Together, they rode across endless plains, their horses swift as the wind.

Their journey was harsh. They crossed rivers swollen with spring floods, battled sandstorms that blinded the eyes, and endured nights where wolves howled from every direction. Yet Altan's resolve grew stronger. In one village, they found survivors who spoke of a Black Sorcerer, master of the demons, who sought to shroud the steppes in eternal night. His fortress lay hidden within Khar Zurkh, guarded by illusions and curses.
To reach it, Altan and his companions had to prove themselves. They faced three trials set by the spirits of the land:
The Trial of Endurance: crossing the Burning Sands without water, guided only by the stars.
The Trial of Courage: slaying a serpent that guarded the sacred spring.
The Trial of Wisdom: answering the riddle of the Sky Spirit, who asked, "What is stronger than iron, swifter than the horse, and eternal as the sky?"
Altan answered: "The will of the people." The spirit smiled, granting him a talisman of protection.

At last, they reached Khar Zurkh. Its peaks loomed black against the horizon, jagged like the teeth of a beast. Shadows writhed upon its slopes, and the air stank of sorcery. Batu trembled, but Saran's eyes blazed with defiance. Altan led them forward, his falcon circling above as a guide.
Within the mountain, they faced horrors: halls filled with whispering voices, illusions of loved ones begging them to turn back, and rivers of fire that threatened to consume them. Yet Altan's talisman glowed, dispelling deceit. Finally, they stood before the Black Sorcerer, cloaked in smoke, his eyes burning red. He mocked them: "Child of prophecy, you are but dust beneath my shadow."

The battle was fierce. The sorcerer summoned demons from the abyss, but Altan's arrows pierced their hearts. Saran fought with unmatched fury, her blade flashing like lightning. Batu, though wounded, stood firm, shielding his friends. The sorcerer unleashed storms of fire, but Altan raised his sky-iron sword, channeling the strength of the Eternal Blue Sky. With a cry that echoed across the mountain, he struck the sorcerer down.
As the sorcerer fell, the fortress crumbled, and the demons dissolved into dust. The falcon descended once more, resting upon Altan's shoulder. The shaman's prophecy had come true: the sacred flame of the ancestors was preserved.
Page 6 – Return to the Steppes
Altan and his companions returned to the steppes as heroes. The tribes, once divided, gathered beneath the Eternal Blue Sky to honor them. Songs were sung of their courage, and Altan was named Guardian of the Flame, protector of the people. Yet he remained humble, knowing that destiny was not his alone but shared with all who lived upon the vast grasslands.
The story of Altan became legend, told around fires for generations. It reminded the people that courage, unity, and the will of the people were stronger than any darkness. And so, beneath the endless sky, the steppes thrived once more.
