The moment my eyes settled upon Althea I was able to sense something in her had shifted. She felt on edge. Even more so than the last time she met me. And her words began to me fill me with a sense of dread. Would she try the same as earlier with others to witness it? I did not want dispelling to another pack. I was there to save my mother.
"I have come to help my mother." I told her firmly.
"The time has come." Patrick spoke, and Althea's eyes shifted toward the Pack Elder of Kael's pack. A man likely close to her age. Her eyes narrowed. She did not look pleased to see him, even less so to hear him speak.
"And who do you think would be, interfering in such matters?" Althea's tone was blunt. This was not the kind and caring woman that I recalled from my childhood. She had changed. She was suddenly defensive, and it scared me a little. I knew the woman was not once what I believed, and knowing the magic that lay within her hands terrified me a little.
