Chapter 109 - Chapter 108 The Trouble is People

"I still think Lin Qingyu is a Half-Elf." Leaning against the wall, Leticia said to Melanie.

Lin Qingyu was now lying in the room undergoing a full examination by Candice, while Leticia and Melanie, two somewhat related but ultimately uninvolved people, stood at the doorway waiting for the results.

"But she genuinely doesn't have any Elf Race aura on her. Did she use some method of disguise?" Melanie trusted Leticia's judgment. Compared to her, a human who didn't know much, the judgment of Leticia, the knowledgeable Demon King, was highly credible.

Moreover, Melanie believed Leticia wouldn't joke around at a time like this.

"Disguise? An ordinary disguise can't escape my eyes." Leticia shook her head. The disguise magic Kira used was already the most advanced, but it was useless against her Insight Magic.

No matter how powerful the disguise magic was, it could only be used to deceive lower-level individuals. It was impossible to fool two ceiling-level experts like them.

"Unless..." Leticia paused, "A God."

Only a God could achieve this.

They were merely mortals, still too weak when facing the methods of a deity.

"Not necessarily." Melanie shook her head this time. "The Prophecy Book we obtained earlier has been mostly deciphered."

"According to the book, the deities are sealed within Divine Artifacts. To awaken Them, one needs not only luck but also faith."

"That girl—all I saw in her eyes was evasion and fear. It's unlikely that someone like her would receive a deity's approval."

"Maybe the God she encountered is just a coward?" Leticia retorted.

The moment she said it, even she almost laughed.

A cowardly God—what a joke.

If They were truly cowardly, They probably wouldn't have been sealed, right?

"Forget it, forget it. This is just my guess. Believe it or not, it's up to you." Leticia shook her head. "The poison she has doesn't seem that potent. Her complexion looks much better than mine."

Although Lin Qingyu looked sickly, she didn't seem poisoned at all. How could someone poisoned look so, uh, rosy-cheeked?

Leticia felt that if she got a physical examination right now, the results would be worse than this girl's.

Compared to her, she seemed more like the one who was poisoned.

Regarding this issue, Melanie stated she didn't know; she was just a fighter who knew nothing about specialized knowledge.

"The toxicity might be relatively weak, but mainly, this poison isn't from our side, which is why I asked you to send someone to check it out."

"Oh, so you mean I didn't need to come?"

"Your body hasn't fully recovered, so you shouldn't travel long distances." Melanie lowered her gaze, hiding the emotions in her eyes.

"Anyway, I didn't come here to see you." Leticia didn't have Melanie's subtle intentions; she came back just to play games.

Melanie? Why bother with her?

Is she as fun as a game? Is she as beautiful and caring as a Two-Dimensional Wife?

No, right? Then that settles it.

"After she's cured, what do you plan to do? Where will you send her?"

"We can't find any identification information for her, as if she just appeared out of nowhere... but this isn't uncommon. Not everyone is lucky enough to be born in a city." Melanie replied.

Due to the destruction caused by years of war, humans living in various villages have actually been leading relatively primitive lives, working from dawn till dusk and using almost no technological products.

They knew that great cities existed in the distance, cities with miraculous technology, but the distance, which was impossible to cross on foot, prevented them from reaching the cities, and prevented the cities from reaching them.

If this girl was born in a village outside the city and had been living outside the city, it would be normal for her to have no information record here in Central City.

It should be noted that even the major human cities only achieved information sharing a few years ago.

"She doesn't look like she grew up in the wilderness. My intuition tells me that the education she received wasn't great, but it definitely wasn't bad." Leticia looked up at the tightly closed room. "Candice seems to be done?"

"Please don't use the word 'done,' okay?" Candice opened the door and gave Leticia a resentful look. That word made it sound like she was doing something scandalous.

"Don't worry about the details! What are the results of the examination?"

"How should I put it? This poison is a bit complicated." Candice recounted her findings truthfully to the two girls waiting outside the room.

"The poison is indeed from the Elf Race, but it's very unusual. It's more like the kind of drug antagonists in novels give to their Loyal Assassins."

"The kind that requires regular antidotes?" Leticia immediately understood what Candice meant. "Candice, you read those novels too?"

"Just a little hobby in my spare time." Candice awkwardly touched her hair. "However, this poison won't kill the girl inside; it will only cause her extreme pain during a certain period each month."

"So Leticia ran into her when the poison acted up?"

"Is there a way to cure it completely?"

Leticia and Melanie asked two completely different questions.

"If I can extract the poison from her body, I might be able to develop an antidote, but she is very resistant to giving me her blood." Candice stated that she should be able to create an antidote, but it required Lin Qingyu's cooperation.

Without drawing blood, how could she research anything?

She wasn't a magician; a clever cook cannot make a meal without rice. Without the poison, how could she research an antidote?

"Hey, Malanie, when you found her earlier, she was unconscious. Since you knew she was poisoned then, didn't you draw some blood for testing?"

"Couldn't draw any." Melanie explained. After realizing Lin Qingyu was poisoned, she tried to draw blood from the girl, but no matter the method, the syringe needle just wouldn't penetrate Lin Qingyu's blood vessels.

It was as if something was protecting Lin Qingyu.

"Couldn't you be flexible and just punch her to get some nosebleed?"

"Are you serious?" Malanie glared at Leticia. What kind of terrible idea was that?

"Just kidding. Candice, please try harder to persuade this young lady. I'm going home to rest now." Leticia stretched, deciding to go home and start her life of slacking off.

Whether it was poison or not, it wasn't her concern anyway. She only came this time to alleviate her boredom, not to exhaust herself being a fool.
