The sun was bright, the air was fresh, and the cool autumn breeze brushed against the girl's cheek, stirring a wisp of unruly fine black hair.
Already withered yellow leaves were plucked from the branches by the wind, slowly drifting toward the ground like butterflies.
Autumn had arrived.
"It was quite hot before, I didn't expect it to be this cold already." Leticia, wearing autumn clothes, tried her best to tuck her neck into her collar. She felt a bit weak now and was sensitive to the cold.
"It's already November, and Central City is located in the northern part of the continent, so the seasons are very distinct." Luna pulled a suitcase with one hand, following closely behind Leticia.
Candice looked around curiously; this was her first time visiting the Human World, so her curiosity was understandable.
The distance from the Demon Race's spatial channel to Central City was considerable, and combined with Leticia's current poor health, the group of four spent a lot of time delayed on the road.
Leticia even suspected that the poor Half-Elf girl had already passed away.
After all, a week had passed; the poison wouldn't wait for them to arrive before flaring up, would it?
After entering the Central City area, Luna's phone hadn't stopped ringing. The maid had brought her own phone when they left, but not Leticia's. It was unclear if this was intentional or if she had genuinely forgotten.
"Mhm, mhm, alright." Luna hung up the phone.
Saying she hung up, she actually just used magic to press the hang-up button on her wireless headset. The current Luna didn't have a free hand to pull out her phone.
"Your Majesty, should I call Malanie?" After finishing the last call, Luna also let out a long sigh. Explaining what happened a month ago and why she had disappeared for a month was quite troublesome.
Those who called were all her business partners. For the sake of their fragile trust, Luna had to tell her fabricated story over and over again to different people.
Kira hadn't told Luna the truth; she had only told Leticia what she knew.
After Leticia learned about it, she nearly found a block of tofu to smash her head against and kill herself.
Hammering an unruly god back into place—that sounded explosively troublesome right from the start.
Leaving aside everything else, Leticia had risked her own small life just to seal the Mist God.
And that wasn't even a god with strong combat power. If she encountered a War God or something similar, Leticia felt she would be the type of trash that gets instantly killed in a few moves.
"Why call her? To let her bother me?" Leticia snorted at Luna's suggestion, indicating that Melanie's presence would only make her, the patient, unhappy.
"Understood." Since Leticia didn't want Melanie to come over, Luna naturally had no objections.
Just like that, the four people, carrying their belongings as if they were moving house, arrived downstairs at Leticia's home.
"Little Lu?" Near the fitness equipment not far from the entrance, Leticia saw Little Lu, her younger sister, whom she hadn't seen in a long time.
Yori was supporting a black-haired girl about the same age as her. Upon hearing Leticia's voice, her eyes lit up, and she looked up, calling out to Leticia, "Quinn, you're back!"
"And Little Lu, where did you two go all these days?"
"Ah, recovering from injuries." Leticia replied. Then she turned and whispered a few instructions into Luna's ear, telling the maid and Candice to go upstairs first.
Luna nodded and led the curious Candice upstairs.
"But Quinn doesn't look injured at all," Yori pouted. "Oh right, this is my new friend. She says her name is Qingyu."
"Lin Qingyu," the girl supported by Yori softly added.
"What a very cute young girl." Leticia's gaze swept over Lin Qingyu, sensing a faint feeling of dissonance.
This Lin Qingyu must be the poisoned girl Melanie mentioned in her letter. Leticia had initially guessed she was a Half-Elf, but after meeting her, Leticia couldn't sense any Elf Race aura on the girl.
Not only could she not sense the Elf Race aura, but the girl also continuously emitted an extremely pure Human aura, as if she were a pure-blooded Human.
But those emerald eyes couldn't be faked. How could a Human possess such a pair of eyes? Only Elves, specifically High Elves, would have such lush, emerald eyes.
"Green eyes—she should be a Half-Elf, right? But why can't I smell the scent of an Elf?" Leticia circled the girl a few times, realizing she truly couldn't detect the Elf scent. She spoke up, filled with doubt.
Lin Qingyu's expression stiffened, and after a long pause, she stammered, "I'm not a Half-Elf, I'm Human."
"What is Quinn talking about?" Yori chimed in from the side. "Qingyu definitely isn't a Half-Elf. Look at her ears—they're round, not pointed."
Saying this, Yori lifted the hair near Lin Qingyu's ear, revealing the small, round ear.
As a mixed-blood between Elves and Humans, Half-Elves generally inherit the characteristics of the Elf Race, namely long, pointed ears.
"Then perhaps I am simply ignorant," Leticia said, glancing past Lin Qingyu's ear and focusing on the girl's neck. "That necklace is very pretty."
"This was a birthday gift from my mother." Lin Qingyu quickly covered the necklace, as if afraid Leticia would try to snatch it.
Strange, very strange.
Leticia smelled a hint of conspiracy. This Lin Qingyu was behaving quite oddly.
"Quinn, aren't you going up to meet my sister?" Yori noticed the atmosphere was tense and quickly tried to smooth things over.
Leticia shook her head. "No need, she's already come down."
Melanie had appeared at the main entrance without anyone noticing. She stood with her arms crossed, her face as expressionless as before.
Hearing Leticia's remark, she lowered her arms and walked over. "You still look a bit pale."
"Stuck at home all the time, of course I look pale." Leticia flashed Melanie a deadly fake smile. "What can I do? A certain Eldest Malanie needed my help, so here I am, rushing over despite my poor health, right?"
"Mhm, thank you."
"Huh? Just a casual 'thank you' like that? I'm not that easy to appease," Leticia said with a proud expression.
"For your game, I already pulled all the items for you." A faint smile appeared on Melanie's face, and Leticia seemed to see a huge character for 'Rich' written in it.
This Malanie is truly... rich.
