Elaris POV
I wanted to deny his claim that I wasn't Elaris, but I knew if I wanted answers from him, I couldn't hide under the veil of being another person.
He was the head guard. He was my best chance of finding out what happened that night, and this was my best opportunity to find out the truth.
My lips parted for the word "No." But eventually, another trail of unexpected words trailed out instead. "You haven't answered my question, Head Guard. Do you believe Ex Beta, Rowan Vance, was the one who killed Alpha Kurt Draven?" I asked.
His answer would determine if I would proceed to ask the questions, biting deep in my stomach. And until then, I wouldn't admit to being Elaris. As long as I don't, he would have nothing against me, except his opinion about who I might be.
