The deeper they ran, the quieter the forest became.
Not peaceful quiet.
Something worse.
A quiet that felt like it was listening back.
Kael Ardyn could hear his own breathing too loudly now. Every step felt like it was being recorded by the ground beneath him. The mark on his arm pulsed again—faster this time.
Jemila didn't slow down.
She didn't look back.
"Keep moving," she said sharply.
Kael finally broke the silence. "How long do we run?"
Jemila answered instantly.
"Until it stops chasing… or until it gets bored of you."
Kael frowned. "That's not comforting."
"It's reality," she replied.
🩸 THE FOREST SHIFT
The trees began to change.
At first, it was subtle—trunks bending in unnatural directions, roots forming patterns that looked too deliberate.
Then Kael noticed it.
The forest was repeating itself.
Same broken rock. Same twisted branch. Same fallen log.
"We're going in circles," Kael said.
Jemila stopped suddenly.
That was the first time she hesitated.
"…No," she whispered.
Her eyes narrowed.
"This isn't a circle."
The wind dropped.
Everything froze for half a second.
Then—
A whisper came from everywhere at once.
He has arrived…
Kael stepped back. "Did you hear that?"
Jemila's grip tightened on her blade.
"I heard it."
💀 THE HUNTING REALM AWAKENS
The ground beneath them cracked slightly.
Dark veins spread through the soil like something was waking up underground.
Kael's mark burned.
He clenched his arm. "Something is wrong here."
Jemila's voice dropped. "This is not Earth's forest anymore."
Kael turned sharply. "What do you mean?"
She finally looked at him directly.
"This is a hunting layer."
Kael frowned. "A what?"
Jemila raised her blade slightly.
"A space between worlds. Created during the Bloody Sun cycle."
Kael froze.
"So we're trapped?"
Jemila didn't answer immediately.
That silence was the answer.
🐺 THE SECOND WAVE
A low growl echoed behind them.
Then another.
Then many.
The hunters had returned—but this time, they were different.
Their forms were larger. Heavier. More distorted.
Kael stepped back. "They evolved?"
Jemila shook her head.
"No."
She looked at them carefully.
"They recognized you."
Kael swallowed. "That's worse."
One of the creatures stepped forward.
And spoke.
Not in words.
But inside their minds.
BLOOD OF THE SUN… RETURNED.
Kael's eyes widened. "It's talking to me."
Jemila's expression hardened.
"They're not just hunting you anymore."
She turned slightly.
"They're confirming you."
🔥 FIRST STAND
Kael raised his fists. "I'm not dying here."
Jemila gave him a quick glance. "Good. Then don't hesitate."
The hunters attacked.
The ground exploded forward as Kael dodged barely in time. One claw tore through the air inches from his face.
Jemila moved like a shadow—cutting, striking, redirecting attacks rather than trying to kill.
Kael noticed something immediately.
She wasn't trying to win.
She was trying to survive efficiently.
Kael grabbed a broken branch and struck one creature's side. It barely reacted.
"Why are they so strong?!" he shouted.
Jemila slid beside him.
"They're not strong," she said. "You're just weak."
Kael shot her a look.
"That's not helpful!"
"It's honest," she replied.
🩸 THE MARK REACTION
One hunter suddenly stopped.
It turned toward Kael's arm.
The Bloody Sun mark was glowing now—bright enough to illuminate the forest.
The creature bowed slightly.
Then more followed.
Kael froze. "Why are they… reacting to it?"
Jemila's eyes widened slightly.
"…They're not attacking you."
Kael frowned. "What?"
"They're responding to you like a signal."
A pause.
Then she added:
"You might not be their target."
Kael turned sharply. "Then what am I?"
Jemila stared at the glowing mark.
"…Their origin."
🌑 THE ESCAPE OPENING
The ground suddenly cracked open ahead of them.
A dark path appeared—like the forest itself had split.
Jemila grabbed Kael's arm. "Now!"
Kael didn't argue this time.
They ran.
Behind them, the hunters did not follow immediately.
They stopped at the edge.
As if they were not allowed to cross.
Kael glanced back while running. "Why aren't they coming?"
Jemila's voice was low.
"Because something else just opened."
Kael looked ahead.
The path was glowing faint red.
And at the end of it—
A symbol carved into stone.
A broken sun.
Kael's mark burned in response.
Jemila whispered,
"…The first seal."
