After the rumor spread around school, Sharon expected things to become even more awkward between her and Dylan.
Surprisingly, they didn't.
Instead of teasing her like he usually did, Dylan simply walked into science class and sat down beside her like it was completely normal.
"Morning, partner," he said.
Sharon sighed. "Are you going to call me that forever?"
"Probably."
She rolled her eyes but opened her notebook.
They began working on their project again, discussing ideas and writing notes.
For once, they were actually working well together.
At one point Dylan looked at her paper and said, "Your notes are really organized."
Sharon blinked in surprise.
"Thank you… I think."
"You definitely care more about neat handwriting than I do," he added.
She laughed quietly.
Dylan looked at her in shock.
"Wait," he said. "Did Sharon just laugh at something I said?"
"Don't get used to it," she replied quickly.
But something had changed.
They weren't enemies anymore.
Not exactly friends either.
But the tension between them felt lighter than before.
