Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: The Dim Corridor

When Jenny stomped the cockroach to death, she could clearly feel the strange texture under her foot. The feedback left her utterly shocked.

The viewers' eyes were sharp as well. They saw everything clearly.

"This game seems pretty damn impressive. The graphics are way too damn realistic!"

"Yeah, it feels exactly like watching a movie!"

"And the interactivity is insane. You can actually stomp cockroaches to death!"

"Not only that, the other cockroaches get scared and run away!"

"Jen, stomp a few more for us!"

The bullet comments could be read aloud through voice broadcast, so even while playing, Jenny could still interact with the audience.

Jenny had never experienced such a realistic game with this level of interactivity before.

Her playful spirit flared up instantly, and she chased the cockroaches around the room, stomping them like crazy.

Just as Jenny was happily stomping away, a sudden old, grinding creak echoed:

"Creak..."

Jenny's heart jolted. She snapped her head up, only to discover that the wooden door that had been tightly closed was now half-open. It had opened at some unknown moment.

"The door opened by itself!"

"It wasn't by itself. Someone opened it. When Jenny looked up, I saw something flash past in the crack!"

"Holy shit, for real?!"

"It's real. I saw it too. Looked like a woman, but it was too fast. I couldn't see it clearly!"

The audience erupted. Only then did Jenny react. That's right. She was playing a horror game!

She had no idea whether the viewers were telling the truth about the woman in the door crack, because she had been too busy stomping cockroaches and had noticed nothing at all.

However, the game's graphics and interactivity had completely surpassed her imagination.

And this was a horror game...

Jenny suddenly felt the strong urge to quit.

"This is actually kinda scary."

"Jenny, don't just stand there! Go check it out!"

"Yeah, yeah, I'm hooked now. This game is ridiculously well made!"

"Can I not go?" Jenny said with a crying face.

The game had barely started, yet she was already wanting to back out.

"Don't be afraid. It's not real. Hurry and go look!"

"That's right, Jenny. We're right here with you!"

"Jenny, don't stop! I'll spam you with gifts. Keep going!!"

"Don't move, i'm cum...."

The audience was far more excited than Jenny herself.

Before long, Jenny heard wave after wave of gift notifications, rockets and airplanes flying across the screen nonstop.

It was extremely lively.

"Fine then." Jenny gritted her teeth. The massive flood of gifts gave her courage.

For the sake of the money, she had to keep playing.

She slowly shuffled forward and finally approached the wooden door.

"Ahhh!!!" The next moment, Jenny screamed loudly to vent the terror in her heart and kicked the wooden door open with a heavy bang.

"Holy shit!"

"Can you open the door a little quieter?!"

"I wasn't even scared by the game yet, and Jenny already gave me a heart attack!"

"I almost got sent flying by Jenny's scream!"

"Don't scream, it's pissing me off."

The audience all started complaining. Jenny, however, remained extremely tense.

Behind the wooden door was a dim corridor.

The corridor looked just like one from an ordinary family home.

The walls were painted pure white, with all kinds of paintings hanging on them.

But what was eerie was how incredibly narrow it was, probably only a little over one meter wide, just enough for a single person to pass through.

The chandelier hanging from the ceiling gave off weak light, making the entire corridor appear gloomy and dim.

A narrow corridor meant that once danger appeared, there would be nowhere to run. You could only face it head-on.

The dim lighting meant that even if something terrifying was lurking ahead, you probably would not be able to see it clearly.

The combination of the two created a claustrophobic, sinister, and suffocating atmosphere.

"Huff..." Jenny eyes were wide open as she subconsciously took a deep breath:

"Damn, this environment is way too creepy."

She had to admit the game's atmosphere was done exceptionally well. Nothing had even appeared yet, and her legs were already turning soft.

The watching viewers could not help but hold their breath as well. There was no helping it. The immersion was too strong, making it easy to sink completely into the experience.

In a long, narrow, dimly lit corridor, anyone would feel tense.

"Go on, go on." Jenny encouraged herself and started walking forward.

She had not taken many steps before she noticed a clock hanging on the wall.

The hour and minute hands were pointing exactly at 11:59. The second hand kept ticking back and forth, as if it would never truly reach midnight.

"11:59. So it's the middle of the night right now?"

"Look at the windows. It's pitch black outside. It really is the early hours."

"This time of night… tsk tsk, it's when tung tung tung sahur come out to haunt."
